Hugang township is located 15 kilometers northeast of Dancheng, adjacent to Shanglin highway in the west, pig iron town in Luyi County in the north, Ningping town in Jishui Township in the East and Southeast, and suburb in the south. Historical evolution

Hutougang historically belonged to kuxian, Laozi's hometown. The names of kuxian changed successively to Fuyang, Guyang, Zhenyuan and Weizhen. In 1265, the two counties of Luyi and Weizhen were merged into one county of Luyi. The administrative office was moved to Weizhen county (now Luyi County). Hutougang always belonged to it. It was not until May 1951 that the Dancheng Office of Henan Province (county level) was set up in danchengji of Luyi County. In August 1952, the Government Affairs Council (now the State Council) officially approved the establishment of Dancheng County, and hutougang was assigned to Dancheng county. Hugang commune was established in 1965 and changed to township in 1983. In 1997, it covers an area of 83 square kilometers and has a population of 61000.
