Qitai town

Qitai town is located in Zhecheng County, Shangqiu City, Henan Province, 17 kilometers southeast of the county. It borders Luyi County in the East and south, faces Hongen and chenqingji townships across Taipinggou in the west, and borders Dagao and laowangji townships in the north. With an area of 53.01 square kilometers and 67577 mu of arable land, there are 41325 people (in 2017), 1.5% of whom are Hui people, and the rest are Han people. The town people's government has set up Taiji. Qitai town is an important tobacco and cotton producing area in the county with fertile land and silt soil.

Qitai town began to build a "ten kilometer corridor" from Maichen village to Xuankou village and from Shixiao village to shilaojia village. Before 1997, Qitai town had a history of 20000 mu tobacco planting, and more than 70% of its financial revenue came from tobacco planting. Before the wheat harvest, the interplanting method of Qitai town pepper was used to plant the next three cherry pepper in the wheat field. 2400 years ago, it is said that Wu Qi led his troops to the east to fight against the state of Qi. He once set up a camp here and built a high platform to train generals. At the moment when the two armies were fighting, Wu Qi suddenly heard that his mother had died of illness and was very sad. However, Wu Qi attached great importance to the country and led his troops to the battle, winning a complete victory. In memory of Wuqi, later generations built a temple here to offer sacrifices, which was called wuqitai temple, or Qitai temple for short, and Qitai town got its name from it. In 1773, Qitai temple was rebuilt, and a monument was erected here. Now the monument is still set up in Qitai town. Therefore, Qitai temple and later Qitai town are found in that ancient land.
