Qiaolou township is located at the easternmost end of Ningling County, 5km away from the county seat. It is close to Shangqiu City in the East and south, suburban township in the West and Zhaocun Township in the north. It covers an area of 53.04 square kilometers (2017). It has jurisdiction over 29 administrative villages and 104 natural villages with 39115 people (in 2017), with a total cultivated land of 54000 mu. It is a typical agricultural township. In recent years, the township has vigorously adjusted the planting structure, gradually transformed traditional agriculture into high-tech agriculture, and promoted the rapid development of agricultural economy. At the same time, township enterprises are also growing, and their products sell well at home and abroad.
Historical evolution
It is said that in the early Qing Dynasty, there was a rich family in the village named elder Qiao. When they built a building in the village, they named it Qiao Lou.
In Ming Dynasty, qiaolou belonged to Laiyuan Township, which was called laiwuye. At the beginning of the Republic of China, the county was divided into five districts, qiaolou was the central district. In 1941, the Japanese puppet regime changed the whole county into three districts, qiaolou as Chengguan District. In 1945, the county was divided into 3 districts and 12 townships. In 1949, Ningling was liberated. There were five districts and one town in the county. Qiaolou belonged to two districts (Lvji). Qiaolou, Huanglou and weizhai were townships. In 1951, there were six districts and one town in the county. Qiaolou belonged to three districts. Qiaolou and Shuangge were townships at that time. In 1955, the district system was abolished and 73 townships were merged into 32 townships. Qiaolou, weizhai and Shuangge were still townships. In 1957, the whole county was merged into 17 townships, and qiaolou was still a township. In 1958, the township system was abolished and the people's commune was established. Qiao Lou was the people's commune. In 1977, weizhai people's commune was added, and qiwangzhuang, Changdian, Wangdian, zhangdazhuang, lvzhuang, weizhai, zhailou, Huanglou, liboyin, lixinmiao, Jialou, etc., which were under the jurisdiction of qiaolou people's commune, were put under the management of weizhai people's commune. In 1981, weizhai people's commune was abolished, and qiwangzhuang, Changdian, Wangdian, zhangdazhuang, lvzhuang, weizhai, zhailou, Huanglou, liboyin, lixinmiao, Jialou and other village committees under the jurisdiction of weizhai were put under the jurisdiction of qiaolou people's commune. The annual average temperature is 14.2 ℃, the annual average precipitation is 647mm, and the frost free period is 216 days. The hottest month in summer is from the first and middle of July to the first and middle of August, and the coldest month in winter is from the beginning of January to the first and middle of February. There is no severe cold in winter and no severe heat in summer. The environment is beautiful and suitable for human settlement. The main river is the Grand Canal of the Ancient Song Dynasty. The soil is mostly Sandy and alkaline. The cultivated land area is 56498 mu, 1.16 mu per capita. There are xiaqingshuihe, Qingshuihe Laodao, wuwanggou, shaozhanggou and other main river channels in the territory. In 2007, there were 56 large and medium-sized tractors, 754 small tractors, 620 ploughs, 280 harrows, 59 rotary tillers, 170 planters, 612 irrigation and drainage machines, 36 combine harvesters, 1844 threshers, 2448 agricultural transporters, 1083 water pumps, 46 straw choppers, 134 diesel engines and 671 motors. It has 845 wells, with an effective irrigation area of 2866 hectares.

The township is rich in wheat, corn, cotton, oil and other major crops. Suli, small fruit is a major advantage of the township. In 1989, the total output of grain, cotton and oil was 11811 tons, 450 tons and 749 tons respectively. After 1990, the township guided farmers to adjust the planting structure and vigorously develop cotton and oil production. In 1995, the cotton area exceeded 20000 mu, and the total output reached 1381 tons. The oil area exceeded 10000 mu, and the total output reached 2483 tons. After 1996, the grain output increased significantly, and the total oil production also increased all the way. In 2000, the total grain output of the township was 17725 tons, the total cotton output was 1163 tons, and the total oil output was 2503 tons, which increased by 5914 tons, 713 tons, and 1754 tons, respectively, compared with 1989, with an increase of 50%, 1.6 times, and 2.3 times, respectively. In 2005, due to market reasons, the area of cotton decreased and the total output decreased. However, the total output of grain and oil reached 27554 tons and 2084 tons respectively. Compared with 1989, the total output of grain and oil increased by 15743 tons and 1335 tons, increasing by 1.3 times and 1.8 times respectively. Compared with 2000, the total output of grain and oil increased by 9829 tons and 1335 tons, increasing by 55% and 1.8 times respectively. In 2007, the total grain output of the township was 32087 tons, and the total oil output was 3315 tons, which increased by 20276 tons and 2566 tons respectively, 1.7 times and 3.4 times compared with 1989. Compared with 2005, the production increased by 4533 tons and 1231 tons respectively, with the growth rates of 16% and 59% respectively. The total output of fruits is 11836 tons, including 8200 tons of Suli. The total output value of agriculture is 180.16 million yuan. The per capita net income of farmers is 2974 yuan.
The township industry has 32 enterprises, such as wood processing, clothing, building materials, etc. In 2007, the total industrial output value of the township reached 244.16 million yuan. Fiscal revenue reached 1.26 million yuan.
There are two professional villages in the township: lixinmiao village and Baizhuang village. Some villagers still have the traditional habit of raising sheep and pigs.

Over the past three years, qiaolou township has intensified the structural adjustment of planting industry and built more than 1000 greenhouses. Planting off-season vegetables, cucumber, tomato, celery, watermelon, pepper, etc. The total annual output is more than 200000 kg; vegetables are sold well in large and medium-sized cities such as Shangqiu, Kaifeng and Zhengzhou, and the benefits are very good. Since 2008, a large area of broccoli has been planted in the township in autumn, and a supply and marketing contract has been signed with relevant vegetable companies. Green cauliflower covers an area of 1000 mu.
Tobacco production is developing rapidly
In order to increase financial revenue and vigorously develop tobacco production, qiaolou Township built new tobacco production bases in Qinmiao, Wangzhuang and other village committees on both sides of "Yu 04" provincial road; the area of high-quality tobacco reached 1500 mu.
