Shiziping Township

Shiziping township is located in the southwest of Lushi County, Sanmenxia City, Henan Province. It is located in the hinterland of Funiu Mountain and at the junction of Henan and Shaanxi provinces and counties. It belongs to the Yangtze River Basin and borders Danfeng and Shangnan counties of Shaanxi Province. It is 74 kilometers away from Lushi County. The township covers a total area of 240.92 square kilometers (2017), with 9 administrative villages, 85 residential groups and 10289 people (2017). There are 7362 mu of cultivated land and 245800 mu of forest slope. Shiziping township is located at the highest altitude in the whole county. It is a deep mountain township with large area, small population density, the highest forest coverage and many kinds of wild animals and plants.

Historical evolution

The village was named after a pair of stone lions. From the end of Ming Dynasty to the 19th year of the Republic of China (1930), it belonged to youyili, then to Shuanghuaishu District, and it belonged to Qiyuan town in the 31st year of the Republic of China (1942). Liberated in 1946, it belongs to the Sixth District of Wulichuan. In 1955, it turned into a junior society and became three general townships of Qihe, Maohe and huangbaigou. In 1958, the abandoned area was transferred to Wulichuan commune. In 1961, the restored area was divided into Shiziping commune, which still belongs to Wulichuan district. In April 1965, the district was withdrawn and directly under the county. In 1984, the government and society were separated and Shiziping township was established.
