Menghai town

Menghai town belongs to Dingtao County, Heze City, Shandong Province. It is located at the junction of Dingtao, Chengwu, Juye and Mudan districts. It is adjacent to Shatu town of Mudan District in the north, Bandi town in the west, Liulin town in the East, and Huangdian Town, Gu'an Township and wenshangji town across the river in the south.

With a total area of 63.01 square kilometers, Menghai town has 21 administrative villages, including 57 natural villages, with a permanent population of 45994 (2017). Historical evolution

Menghai village began in the Sui Dynasty and was named after Meng Haigong, the leader of the peasant uprising. In 1817, it was renamed Tian Changying. In 1844, it was renamed Gufeng village. In 1921, it was renamed Menghai, also known as mengjiahai. In 1934, Gufeng town was established, belonging to the Fifth District; in 1937, it belonged to Shunde District. during the Anti Japanese War, the South belonged to the Fifth District (Huangdian) and the north to the fourth district (Bandi). In 1949, the Fourth District People's Government stationed in menghaiji, and later moved to bandiji. In 1956, it was changed into Menghai district. In March 1958, Menghai was divided into two townships, Menghai and Bandi. In August 1958, Menghai and Bandi townships merged to form Wanfu people's commune. In November 1958, Dingtao County was abolished and Wanfu commune was transferred to Chengwu. In October 1961, it belonged to Dingtao County and was still Wanfu commune. In January 1979, 65 natural villages in the West were divided into Bandi commune, and the rest 57 natural villages are still Wanfu commune. He was renamed Menghai Township in January 1984. In January 1995, Menghai town was established as a town under the jurisdiction of Dingtao County.
