In October 1958, Jinqiu Street belonged to suburban commune and lakeside commune. In May 1961, it was changed to district. In September 1968, it was changed into a commune. In May 1984, it belonged to boxing town and Hubin town respectively. In June 2007, boxing town was removed and Jinqiu street was set up. As of June 2020, Jinqiu street has jurisdiction over 9 communities and 26 administrative villages.
