Liaoyuan road sub district office was founded in 1985. In 1994, it was divided into the Northern District of the city by the four directions. In 1996, it was renamed Liaoyuan road sub district office. The area is about 3.2km long from east to west, 2.4km wide from north to south, and 4.79 square kilometers in area. There are 45462 residents (2010). There are 12 communities under the street.
