Introduction to hometown
Pingyin rose has a long history of cultivation, more than 1300 years ago. As early as the early Tang Dynasty, it was recorded that the first monk Cijing planted roses in Cuiping mountain of Pingyin. In the Ming Dynasty, rose could be used to make wine. In the Qing Dynasty, rose was planted all over Cuiping mountain and Yudai River Basin. There is a record in Pingyin County annals of Qing Dynasty that "thousands of branches are born in the open land, just like red beans send Acacia, and roses are fragrant like sea, just when every family is ripe". According to the local records of Pingyin, "in 1907, during the flower picking season, merchants from Beijing, Tianjin, Xuzhou and Jinan gathered in Pingyin and competed to buy it. The annual harvest cost 300000 Jin, which is worth 5000 liang of silver." Yudai River Basin is surrounded by mountains, and the middle Valley is long and narrow with mild climate. The terrain and climate of tezhu create the fragrant Pingyin rose. The stem is 80-200 cm high and the flowers are double dark red. The flowering period is 3-10 days.
