History of construction
In the early days of the founding of the people's Republic of China, the territory was under the jurisdiction of two districts; in 1956, chating township was set up; in 1958, chating commune was set up; in 1966, chating commune was renamed xunkou commune; in 1968, Heyuan commune and Houcun commune were merged into xunkou commune; in 1974, Heyuan commune and Houcun commune were successively divided; in 1984, xunkou commune was changed into xunkou township; in 1997, xunkou town was built from Heyuan commune.

Famous people
Zhang Gui (1533-1602) was born in xunxi, Xinwu County, Jiangxi Province. In the 38th year of Jiajing (1559) of Ming Dynasty, he became a scholar. In 1564, he was promoted to the rank of censor. He was angry with emperor Shizong of the Ming Dynasty for his performance of rescuing Yan Songyan Guan Shu. In the 45th year of Jiajing reign (1566), Zhang's official position was restored. In 1572, muzong died and Shenzong succeeded to the throne. At that time, Emperor Shenzong ignored the government for a long time, and Zhang Zhe played "Jing Bao Shi Shu". Zhang Jian was dethroned for the third time and died in July 1602 at the age of 70.
