Xiangcheng town

Xiangcheng Town, belonging to Gao'an City, Yichun City, Jiangxi Province, is located in the southwest of Gao'an City, adjacent to the new territories town of Shanggao County, 45 km away from the urban area. The town covers a total area of 129.71 square kilometers, with a cultivated area of 44000 mu, a mountainous area of 77800 mu, and a water area of 27000 mu. It has jurisdiction over 11 Village (neighborhood) committees, 151 villager groups, and a permanent resident population of 23671 people (in 2017). All of them belong to the Jiangyou ethnic group of the Han nationality. The main surnames are Wu, Kuang, Jian and Hu.

Historical evolution

Xiangcheng used to be Xiangcheng. Because there are horizontal paintings of Xiangshan mountain nearby and surrounded by Tucheng, it is named Xiangcheng. The reason is that "Xiang" and "Xiang" are homophonic, and Binhai becomes Xiangcheng. The town is located in the southwest of the city. It is adjacent to Taiyang town in the East, Jianshan town in the southeast, Tiannan town in the southwest, xinjiebu town in Shanggao County in the west, Sixi town in Shanggao County in the northwest and Huibu town in the northeast. The town government is located in Yangliuping. There are mining reservoir, Xiangcheng reclamation farm, Jinjiang cattle farm, yuandubu farm, Hongdu farm and other units in the town. The town is 45 kilometers away from Gaoan City, 53 kilometers away from Xinyu City, 20 kilometers away from Changzhang expressway, and only 12 kilometers away from Zhushan station and Jianshan station of Zhejiang Jiangxi Railway Branch. Huangfu provincial highway runs through the north and south, Taijie county highway across the East and West, convenient transportation. during the period of the Republic of China, it was divided into three districts, including Huayang, Deyi and Taiyang. In the early days of the founding of new China, it belonged to four districts. During the period of cooperation, it belonged to Xiangcheng District. During the period of communization, it was a super British commune. In 1961, it belonged to Xiangcheng District, which governed Huayang, Xiangcheng and Quangang communes. In 1964, the district was withdrawn and merged into Xiangcheng commune (located in Xiangcheng Village). In 1976, it moved to Yangliuping. In 1984, Xiangcheng commune was abolished and Xiangcheng township was established. In 1997, Xiangcheng township was abolished and Xiangcheng town was established.

In 2012, the town has 10 village committees, 2 neighborhood committees and 173 villager groups in Huangzhen, Huayang, Yanjia, Shimei, Tangshan, lengtang, Huishang, Xiangcheng, Guantang and Shanfang. The resident population was 23671 (2017). The natural growth rate of population is 5.19 ‰. The total area under the jurisdiction is 129.71 square kilometers, including 2908 hectares of cultivated land (2358 hectares of paddy field and 550 hectares of dry land), 5186.7 hectares of mountain forest and 1793.3 hectares of water area.

Geography and climate

The territory of hilly land, limestone distributed in the eastern half. At an average altitude of about 200 meters, the peaks are different from each other. Some mountains are juxtaposed and overlapped, while others are protruding from the flat land and stand alone. The territory has a mild climate, with annual maximum temperature of 38 ℃ ~ 39 ℃ and minimum temperature of minus 4 ℃. The lowest temperature on December 29, 1991 was - 13 ℃. Frost free period 270 days, annual precipitation 1700mm. There are too many hail disasters, especially in Xiangcheng, Guantang and Shanfang.

Xiangcheng County has unique natural resources. There are more than 20 kinds of mineral resources, such as marble, granite, limestone, dolomite, coal, porcelain clay and so on, especially limestone. It is proved that the surface reserves alone reach 300 million cubic meters, accounting for more than two-thirds of Gao'an City, and the quality is excellent, so it is easy to develop. There are more than 30 natural karst caves in the territory, among which Zhanghu cave, bat cave, Shuyuan cave, Xiaoshui cave and Baisha cave are the most famous. The cave belly is broad and profound, ingenious, magnificent, warm in winter and cool in summer. It is connected with green mountains and beautiful waters, and has broad development prospects.

In 2012, the total industrial and agricultural output value of the town was 1.0986 billion yuan, including agricultural output value of 35176 million yuan, industrial output value of 65810 million yuan, financial revenue of 36.16 million yuan and per capita net income of farmers of 8509 yuan. Rice, cotton and sweet potato are mainly cultivated in agriculture. The total annual grain output is 32655 tons, including 29096 tons of rice and 1180 tons of cotton. It has a long history of raising pigs and cattle. There are 124300 live pigs, 6900 cattle and 2.93 million cages. The industry mainly produces carbonic acid, and is known as the "Silver Triangle" of Gao'an together with Tiannan and Jianshan. Relying on Huayang and Yangliuping farmers' markets, the business has successively expanded and rebuilt markets for trade, bamboo and wood, piglets, cattle, etc., with a market trade volume of more than 200 million yuan. Xiangcheng is known as an important agricultural town in Gao'an. The town is rich in grain, cotton, oil, pigs, cattle and aquatic products, with an annual output of 24000 tons of grain, 10000 tons of cotton, 1000 tons of oil, 25000 live pigs, 10000 cattle and 1500 tons of aquatic products. Among them, "Tangshan Fenpi", "Xiangcheng Laojiu" and other characteristic products are well-known. Township Industry and private economy have developed rapidly. Centering on building the hometown of building materials, enterprises such as marble factory, calcium powder factory, building materials factory, light calcium carbonate factory and construction company have been set up successively. Cement factory is being built, and the industrial output value has exceeded 100 million yuan. In 2002, the total industrial and agricultural output value of the town reached 165 million yuan, the fiscal revenue was 5.4427 million yuan, and the per capita income of farmers was 2550 yuan. Gao'an city was rated as the comprehensive development of advanced towns.

The infrastructure is relatively complete. Huangfu highway runs through the north and south, and Shanggao Zhangshu highway runs through the East and West, forming two main traffic arteries. There is a 35000 volt substation, program-controlled telephone, mobile and Unicom websites have been opened, and a complete middle school, central health center and cable TV have been set up. The supporting agricultural infrastructure has been improved, and a waterworks with a daily water supply of 6000 tons has been set up in the town, which has laid a foundation for the economic and social development of the whole town.

In 2012, the town has 6 roads and streets with a total length of 5150 meters, fully realizing greening, hardening, lighting and beautification; it has Street Garden, cultural and leisure square, red flag square, cultural corridor, literature and art building, large TV screen, pedestrian street and other public facilities; it has 3 residential areas, covering an area of 4 hectares, with a construction area of 76600 square meters. The town area was expanded to 3 square kilometers. In 2012, it was rated as the province's ecological civilization township.
