In 1960, it belonged to Fangshan County. In 1961, Guandao people's commune was established. In 1983, the commune was transformed into a township. In 1986, it belongs to Fangshan District. In 2000, Guandao township was transformed into a town. In 2001, Guandao town was merged into Liangxiang town. In November 2005, Liangxiang town was divided into three parts, and Liangxiang town was in the south. On July 14, 2006, Liangxiang town government moved to the former Guandao town. By the end of 2018, there were 19202 registered residence in good towns and villages. As of October 2019, Liang township has 16 administrative villages under its jurisdiction, and the town government is stationed at No. 1, Guandao West Street.
