Junmenling town is located in the south of Huichang County, Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, 42 kilometers away from the county seat, the West foot of Wuyi Mountains and the upstream of Ganjiang River. It is adjacent to Dongtou Township and Dongliu town of Wuping County in the East, Luoshan Township and Chengjiang town of Xunwu County in the south, Qingxi Township and Shuiyuan township of Xunwu County in the west, Zhoutian Township and Zhongcun township of Xunwu County in the north, covering an area of 297 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 2 neighborhood committees, 26 Village Committees (including 2 she villages), 309 villager groups, and 41353 permanent residents (in 2017). The town covers an area of 284.87 square kilometers, with 330000 mu of forest land, 1725 hectares of arable land, 40000 mu of fruit industry, and 80.26% of forest coverage.
Many Chinese, overseas Chinese and foreign friends only know about yunmenling, but they don't know about Huichang. When they write a letter, they can only write "China's yunmenling", which shows that they have become famous overseas.
Historical evolution
Junmen mountain, formerly known as "junmen mountain", was named "junmen mountain" because it was the throat of the three provinces, surrounded by overlapping mountains, different peaks and dangerous terrain. It has always been an important military area for military strategists. In the Shunzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, it was called "Junling" for its abundant Junzhu. In 1964, it was renamed as menling commune, and then it was also called "menling". Until 1983, it was officially named "junmenling".
In February 1933, yunmenling county was established, belonging to Ningdu district.
In September 1949, junmenling county was abolished and junmenling township was established, belonging to Huichang county.
In 1958, junmenling, Baibu, Yangjiao, Pangu, Changling and other townships merged to establish junmenling commune, which belongs to Huichang county.
In 1961, junmenling commune was divided into junmenling commune and Changling commune.
In 1964, junmenling commune was renamed menling commune.
In 1983, it was renamed junmenling commune.
In 1984, junmenling commune was abolished and junmenling township was established. The jurisdiction remained unchanged.
On September 12, 1988, junmenling township was abolished and junmenling town was established.

Since March 1983, junmenling town has governed 21 villages with a total of 309 villager groups.
On October 21, 2003, Changling township was abolished, and the former administrative region of Changling township was put under the jurisdiction of junmenling town. At the same time, xiuduan village of Changling township was abolished, and the former xiuduan village was divided into Changling village, Huangpi village and Xiaozhao village respectively.
In October 2003, yunmenling neighborhood committee was established. Yunmenling has one neighborhood committee, 29 villages and 321 villager groups.
