overview
Hedong township is an old revolutionary base area. Chen Yi, Xiang Ying and Chen Pixian held an important Changling conference in Shanwan, Changling. Revolutionaries of the older generation, such as Liu Jianhua, Huang Ye and Zhang Hua, once carried out guerrilla warfare in Gaoping and Changling, Hedong.
Changling conference site
The former site of Changling conference is located in Luoxue Wenjia, Shawan, Changling village, Hedong Township, Dayu county. In mid April of 1935, Xiang Ying and Chen Yi presided over a plenary meeting of party, government and military cadres at the home of Luo Xuewen, a farmer in Shawan, Changling village, Hedong Township, Dayu county. Nearly 70 people attended the meeting, which is historically known as "Changling meeting". The conference formulated the policy of guerrilla struggle of "relying on the masses, persisting in struggle, accumulating strength, creating conditions and meeting the new revolutionary climax". The Red Army guerrillas were dispersed to various districts to carry out the struggle. The "Changling meeting" is a turning point for the Red Army's guerrillas to transform from regular warfare to guerrilla warfare, which is of great significance to the victory of the three-year guerrilla war on the border of Jiangxi and Guangdong.
The former site of Changling conference is a mountain house, which was built in the middle and late Qing Dynasty. It has a civil structure and is divided into upper and lower halls, covering an area of about 200 square meters. Dayu county Party committee and county government carried out maintenance in 1978 and 2007 respectively, which showed good protection. On July 7, 2005, the former site of Changling conference was listed as the list of immovable cultural relics in Ganzhou City. On July 18, 2011, the former site of Changling conference was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Dayu county.

In the middle of April of 1935, after the Changling conference, Xiang Ying, Chen Yi and the organs of the Jiangxi Guangdong border special committee of the Communist Party of China moved to Pengdong village to direct the guerrilla struggle. One day in late April of the same year, the Red Army guerrilla spy squad went to Hengkeng, a neighboring village, to buy grain. On the way back to the village, he was suddenly attacked by Zhou Wenshan, a Kuomintang "bandit suppression" brigade stationed in Hedong. Xiang Ying and Chen Yi got out of danger.
After the cave was attacked, Xiang Ying, Chen Yi and the special committee of the Communist Party of China on the border of Jiangxi and Guangdong moved to live in a shelter in fangkeng, maomaofeng, Beishan, Dayu county. On October 13, 1935, Gong Chu, the former chief of staff of the Central Military Region, defected and led his troops to tianjingdong to capture and kill more than 30 Red Army guerrillas in longxushi under the pretext of holding a meeting. On October 20, the traitors Gong Chu and he Changlin led their troops to maomaofeng fangkeng, the special committee of the Communist Party of China on the border of Jiangxi and Guangdong, in an attempt to capture Xiang Ying, Chen Yi and other leaders. Fortunately, the guards alerted the police tactfully, and Xiang Ying, Chen Yi and other people got out of danger. It is called "Beishan incident" in history.
