Tutang Town, belonging to Duchang County, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, is located in the middle of Duchang County, bordering Shishan Township in the East, Yangfeng Township, wangdun Township and xubu Township in the west, Mingshan Township in the north and sanhangang town in the south. Historical evolution
Before the founding of the people's Republic of China, it was Tutang Township, a lakeside area.
In the early days of the founding of the people's Republic of China, it was still called Tutang Township, belonging to five districts.
In 1959, it was renamed Tutang people's commune.
In 1962, it was divided into three people's communes: Tutang, hangqiao and Huamin.
In 1968, three people's communes, Tutang, hangqiao and Huamin, were merged.
In 1973, hangqiao and Huamin were separated, and Tutang was still called Tutang people's commune.
In 1984, the township was restored and renamed Tutang township.
In May 1993, the township was withdrawn and Tutang town was built.
In January 2002, hangqiao and Huamin townships were merged into Tutang town.

Tutang town is a hilly and lakeside area with high terrain in the north and low terrain in the south. Swamp, low hill and slope land account for four tenths of the total area, and Pingfan field accounts for six tenths. The highest point is zhougongling, 375 meters above sea level; the lowest point is jianghuzhou farm, 14 meters above sea level.

The origin of place names
There is a pond in the west of Tutang Town, commonly known as "Hedu Tutang", which is used for residents' living and production. Tutang town is named after the pond.
Famous people
Feng Ren
Feng Ren (1905-1930), a native of fengjiafang village, Tutang Town, Duchang County, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, was an important leader of the early party and League organizations in Jiangxi Province. He was an excellent member of the Communist Party of China, a loyal communist fighter, and the pride of the Jiangxi people. In his short life, he has made great contributions to the lofty cause of the party and the people, and dedicated his young and precious life to it. July 10, 2015 is the 85th anniversary of Feng Ren's death, and November 2, 2015 is the 110th anniversary of his birth.
At the age of 16, Feng Ren studied in Nanchang, the provincial capital, and began to accept Marxism. After joining the Communist Party of China in 1924, he successively served as secretary of Nanchang Communist Youth League, Secretary General of Jiangxi provincial Party committee, member of standing committee and Minister of propaganda of Jiangxi provincial Party committee, Acting Secretary of Jiangxi provincial Party committee, Secretary of Ganxi special committee, member of standing committee and Minister of propaganda of Hubei provincial Party committee, Secretary of Agricultural Committee, Acting Secretary of Hubei provincial Party committee and Secretary General of Jiangxi provincial Party committee. On July 10, 1930, he was killed by Kuomintang reactionaries outside Tongxiang gate in Wuchang.
Duan Zhaoxian
Duan Zhaoxian, male, Han nationality, born on September 8, 1954 in duansan village, Tutang Town, Duchang County, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, is now deputy chief of staff and major general of the PLA Navy.
He served as assistant to the chief of staff of the navy in 2009 and deputy chief of staff of the navy in February 2011.
In July 2010, he was promoted to the rank of major general.
