Sanchagang Town, belonging to Duchang County, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, is located in the southeast of Duchang County. It is a lakeside area, bordering on Poyang Lake in the East and West, facing wanhu town and Dasha town respectively, Xiyuan Township and Zhouxi town in the south, Yangfeng Township in the northwest, and Tutang town in the north, covering an area of 39.85 square kilometers. In 2018, three towns registered residence in 29448 towns. By 2019, Sanchagang town has jurisdiction over 2 communities and 10 administrative villages.

Historical evolution
Before the founding of the people's Republic of China, it belonged to Shanhu Township, a lakeside district.
In the early days of the founding of the people's Republic of China, it belonged to the eighth district.
In 1956, it belonged to Sancha harbor area.
In 1958, Xihu Township, Liujin Township, Funiu Township and Yangfeng Township were merged into Sanchagang township.
In 1959, it was renamed Sanchagang people's commune.
In 1962, it was divided into Sanchagang people's Commune and Yangfeng people's commune.
In 1968, Sanchagang people's Commune and Yangfeng people's commune were merged.
In 1973, it was divided into Sanchagang people's Commune and Yangfeng people's commune again.
In 1984, the township was restored and named Sanchagang township.
