Meitang town

Located in the north of Yongxiu County, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, Meitang town is a mountainous and hilly area. Historical evolution

It is named after meitangban (ancient Meizhou Duotang pear). Before the founding of the people's Republic of China, there were three districts, Baicha Township and Paulownia township. In 1950, it belonged to the third, fourth and fifth townships of the Fifth District, and later to Paotong township of Baicha district. In 1958, it was changed into Meitang Management District of Baicha commune. In 1959, it was divided into Meitang commune. In 1984, it was changed into Township, and the town was established in 1995. In 1997, with an area of 75 square kilometers and a population of 15000, it governed nine administrative villages, namely Daping, Xianglin, Zhongxin, Datang, Xinzhuang, Yangling, Tianbu, Shiqiao and Houcheng.
