Dongsi Township
Dongsi Township belongs to Longhai District, Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province. It is located in the hilly area in the southwest of Longhai District, bordering Baishui town and Dongyuan town in the East, jiulongling forest farm and Chengxi town in the west, Haicheng Town in the north, Zhangpu County in the south, 44 km from Xiamen City in the East and 27 km from Zhangzhou Port in the East.
By the end of 2011, Dongsi Township had a total area of 59.42 square kilometers, under the jurisdiction of 14 administrative villages, with a total population of 24040, including 342 urban permanent residents, with an urbanization rate of 1.4%. In 2011, the town achieved a total industrial and agricultural output value of 4251.8 million yuan.
Dongsi township is a subtropical monsoon climate zone with obvious marine characteristics. Qingyan mountain, the highest point in the territory, is 562.8 meters above sea level. It has won the honorary title of "ecological Township in Fujian Province".
In 2017, the administrative area was 5805 hectares, with a permanent population of 21651.
Historical evolution
Dongsi township was under the jurisdiction of Haicheng county and Zhangpu County.
In 1942, it was under the jurisdiction of dongma Township and Nanxia Township in the first district of Haicheng County, and in 1947, it was under the jurisdiction of Kangle township.
It belonged to the first district of Haicheng County in 1950 and Chengguan District in 1955.
In September 1957, Dongpu of Zhangpu County was assigned to Chengguan District of Haicheng county.
In April 1958, the district was withdrawn and Dongsi township was established. In September, it was under the jurisdiction of Liming commune.
In March 1959, it was transferred to Lianhua commune.
In January 1960, Longxi County and Haicheng county were juxtaposed into Longhai County, which was subordinate to Longhai county. In February of the same year, Dongsi commune was established from Lianhua commune.
In the second half of 1984, Dongsi commune was changed into Dongsi township.
In May 1993, Longhai county was established as a city (county level), and Dongsi township was under the jurisdiction of Longhai City.
In September 1996, xibuwen town (except two administrative villages) and Guokeng town of Longhai City were set up in Longwen District of Zhangzhou city.
