Ruokeng township has a total land area of 129.58 square kilometers, ranking second in the county. The township has 177088 mu of forest land, 5306 mu of cultivated land, including 4835 mu of paddy field, 9114 mu of tea garden, ranking first in the county, and 580 mu of fruit forest.

Ruokeng Township, located in the west of Qimen County, is located on the south slope of Guniujiang National Geopark and nature reserve, 56 kilometers away from the county seat. The southeast and southwest are adjacent to Likou, Shanli and Shitai respectively, and the northwest is adjacent to Shitai County. Ruokeng Township, known as Huanxi in ancient times, belonged to xinfengli township of xianguishang Township in Song Dynasty. Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties were all nineteen capitals. In the early days of the founding of the people's Republic of China, Ruokeng commune was established in October 1961 and renamed Ruokeng Township in September 1983. The township now governs 7 administrative villages and 54 villager groups with 7050 people (2017), all of whom are Han nationality.

Shancun ancient ancestral temple Shaode Hall
Shaode hall is the ancestral hall of Wang family in Wang Village, Ruokeng township. Although its architectural carving technology is simple, it is extraordinary. The whole building is divided into five parts: Yimen, Tianchi, Xiangtang and dormitory, and the front courtyard, covering an area of 1045 square meters.
There is a wooden fence at the gate of the instrument. The threshold stone is a strip of yixianqing, 11 meters long. When you enter the Yi gate, you can see the horizontal plaque of "Wang's ancestral hall" hanging on the top of the main gate. On both sides of the gate, there are green Baogu stones from Yi county. On the bottom of the gate, the patterns of flowers and plants and Kirin are engraved. On both sides of the gate, there are side doors, which are convenient for festival activities. The part from Yimen and main gate to Tianchi corridor is a stage built according to Huizhou people's custom.
Tianchi is made of 67 cm wide feldspar blocks, and the corridor accounts for about half of it. There are "shouxiao hall" and "conference hall" in the main hall. The six pillars in the nave are 160cm thick and 6.5m high, which are precious ginkgo wood. The main hall is divided into two parts: high and low. In the main hall, in addition to the plaque, there are more than ten plaques hanging between Liang Fang, such as "danxinbixue", "Gongyuan", "ShangXu Huanying" and "shuodeyaling", which are records of the achievements of their ancestors, such as Rong jiegong and Rong rengong. Each plaque is bought with the painstaking efforts of their ancestors, and there are moving stories behind it. In the past, ancestral tablets were placed according to the size of the clan.
The courtyard in front of the gate is made of small stones. The ground is flat and covers an area of 216 square meters. The wall is 37 cm thick. The two stone drums in the courtyard have a maximum diameter of 73 cm. It is said that the stone drums were given by the imperial court by the ancestors.
In addition to Shaode hall, there are still Daosheng ancestral hall and Wang family ancestral hall in Wang village.
