Sipu town
Sipu town is subordinate to Suixi County, Huaibei City, Anhui Province. It is located in the east of Suixi County, 22.5km away from the county. It is the east gate of Suixi County, with Lieshan District of Huaibei City in the north, Baishan town in the west, Hancun town and Suntuan town in the South and Suzhou City in the East.
Sipu town has a total area of 196.53 square kilometers, 20 administrative villages and a total population of 83199 (2017). In 2014, the GDP reached 1.618 billion yuan, an increase (or decrease) of 1.2% over 2013.
Historical evolution
In the fourth year of Yuanhe (809 A.D.), it belonged to Suzhou. Later, the government set up a shop, ten miles a shop, five miles a fort, to deliver documents. In the west of Suzhou, there are three shops, four shops and five shops. Sipu is 40 li away from Suzhou city. It is the fourth Pu Fort set to the west of Suzhou. It is named xishishilipu, later called Sipu.
In 1912, Sipu was subordinate to Suxian county.
In July 1950, Suixi County was newly built, and Sipu township was under the jurisdiction of Changshan district.
Sipu people's commune was established in September 1958.
In December 1981, Sipu commune was abolished and Sipu district was established. Sipu District governs seven townships, namely Sanpu, Sipu, Wupu, Qinlou, Zhaoji, Weiji and Guruo.
In February 1992, Sipu district was removed and Sipu township was established.
In 2006, Sipu Township and Wupu Township were merged into Sipu Township, which has jurisdiction over 20 villages and 193 natural villages.
In December 2012, Sipu township was removed and Sipu town was built.
