Gongqiao Town, belonging to He county, Ma'anshan City, Anhui Province, is located in the southwest of He county, about 27.0 km away from the county. It is adjacent to Laoqiao town in the East, Shenxiang town in the south, Hanshan County in the West and Xibu town in the north. Gongqiao Town, with a total area of 12756.7 hectares and a total population of 47835 in 2005, is located in mid mountain and semi polder area. It has nine village committees and two communities.

History of construction

Gongqiao is named after Gongsheng bridge, a bridge on the new branch of Niutun river. In ancient times, Gongqiao town was the seat of xiangluan Township, with 23 capitals, 24 capitals and 25 capitals under its jurisdiction. In the 29th year of the Republic of China (1940), Nanyi district was set up, with jurisdiction over Nanyi Township, sunjiakou Township, Xintang Township, luoxitan Township, Wuxian Township and Baishi township.
