Niandou Town, subordinate to Dangtu County, Ma'anshan City, Anhui Province, is located in the southwest of Dangtu County, adjacent to Qingshan River in the East, across the river from Huangchi town and Shiqiao Town, bordering Wanji district and Wuhu City in the southwest, and Taibai town in the north. Niandou township was formed in January 2004 by the merger of the original Chawan Township and niandou township. Niandou Township, where the government is located, was entrusted to Ma'anshan to undertake the industrial demonstration park in July 2010. On August 25, 2010, Anhui Provincial Department of Civil Affairs agreed to cancel niandou Township and establish niandou town.

The origin of the name

Nian Dou, named after the local ancient water conservancy project "Doumen". It is said that during the reign of Emperor Qianlong of Qing Dynasty, disasters occurred year after year, which were either floods or droughts. In order to prevent flood and drought, the officials and people of niandoumen made concerted efforts to build Doumen. It was a cold winter, freezing and snowing. People kept on the construction site until the 30th of the lunar new year. The name "Nian Dou" comes from this.

Geography and climate

Niandou town is rich in water resources. It is adjacent to Qingshan River in the East and Biandan River in the southwest. The internal ditches are crisscross.
