Zhengyangguan Town, originated from ancient Zhengyangguan, is one of the famous passes in China. It is called Yingwei, Yingkou, Yangshi, Yangshi, Yangshi City, etc. in ancient times. It is an ancient town with a long history. It took shape as early as the middle of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty. According to Zuo Zhuan, in the 12th year of Lu Zhaogong (530 B.C.), it is recorded that "chuzi lived in zhoulai, next to Yingwei". Based on this, Zhengyangguan town has a history of more than 2530 years. According to Shouzhou annals published in the 29th year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1550 A.D.), it is said that "dongzhengyang Town, 60 Li south of Zhouli, was named Yangshi in ancient times, and Han zhaolie built a city and stationed troops here".
Zhengyangguan is located at the confluence of Huaihe River, Yinghe River and Pihe River. It has been an important cargo distribution center in the middle reaches of Huaihe River since ancient times. In Ming Dynasty, Zhengyang was a good place to collect taxes from merchants and boatmen. In 1465, the first year of Chenghua of Ming Dynasty, a cash collection pass was set up here, with an annual tax revenue of more than 62400 Liang. It is known as "yinzhengyang", so "Zhengyangguan" got its name.
According to historical records, Zhengyangguan turned over 62400 taels of tax silver to the state treasury in the year of the switch. In the Qing Dynasty, the river transportation was more developed, "sailboats came and merchants came", and the amount of tax collected by Zhengyangguan was increased to 90200 Liang; in 1840, the "General Administration of Huaibei salt sales in Zhengyangguan" was set up, which was responsible for selling Huaibei salt to the "five southern counties" (now Lu'an, Huoqiu, Gushi, Shangcheng and Huangchuan) in Dabie Mountain Area; in 1907, the North Anhui commercial bank was established in Zhengyangguan In the 0.62 square kilometer urban area, there are 5 transportation companies, 8 baths, 13 tourist halls, 22 hotels, 72 and a half temples, such as Xuandi temple, Yingshui temple, mosque, evangelical church, etc There is a stone statue of the master of land in Chengmen cave, which is called "half Temple"), and there are municipal government agencies such as inspection yamen, Sanfu yamen, police station, etc. with a population of 50000 (Zhengyangguan police station had a population of 30000 in 1934, ranking the sixth in Anhui Province), Zhonghua Xiongguan, which has been transformed into an important town in Western Anhui Province
Zhengyang was liberated in 1949. In March 1950, Zhengyang city was established, which was subordinate to Lu'an district. In June of the same year, Zhengyang city was withdrawn as a district. Zhengyang town was established in 1953, Zhengyang district was reestablished in 1954, Zhengyang people's commune was established in 1961, and the town system was reestablished in 1963. In 1969, Shizi · Lu, Jianshe two communes and Yangwei brigade of gouqi commune were merged into Zhengyang town and Zhengyang people's commune was established. In 1970, the cross road was designated, two communes and Yangwei brigade of gouqi commune were built, and the commune was changed into a town. In September 2004, Zhengyang town was renamed Zhengyangguan town after the adjustment of county and township division, and the original construction Township system was incorporated.
Before liberation, the railway from Anqing to Zhengyangguan fell, which directly led to the decline of Zhengyangguan. Zhengyangguan was the most ill fated one among the eight major passes in China. It is also the only famous Chinese pass that has been established as a town. Under the order of Xu Laizhou, the Secretary of Zhengyangguan in 1995, Zhengyangguan's original historical heritage has been changed Most of the traces have been basically demolished. Stone streets, ancient wells and ancient famous houses have been demolished. Today's Zhengyangguan has been scarred. In this way, a perfect millennium old town is missing in China within a year, and Xu Laizhou has become a criminal of history. Today, people with lofty ideals in Zhengyangguan have proposed that Zhengyangguan should be separated from Shouxian county and changed into a county-level system to develop and build an ancient town.
Dialect features
The dialect belongs to xinbeng section of Zhongyuan Mandarin in Shandong Province, which is inherited from Jiaodong dialect in Shandong Province. Phonetically, it is close to that of Northern Anhui Province, and the Jianghuai Mandarin in the surrounding areas of the same county and Shouchun town is quite different. However, because the local, South and north sides are all bordered by the areas where Jianghuai dialect is spoken, it is obviously affected by the Jianghuai Mandarin nearby. It is close to the dialects of Huoqiu, Yingshang, Fengtai and Huainan in Northern Anhui. On the whole, as in many other areas of the county, due to the large number of immigrants from Jiaodong, Shandong Province in local history, many characteristics of Jiaodong, Shandong Province have been retained in terms of vocabulary and pronunciation.
