Weichi Temple Neolithic site, located about 200 meters east of Bozhou road street, Mengcheng County, Anhui Province, is a relatively complete and large-scale remains of primitive social settlement dominated by Dawenkou Culture in China. Since 1989, the Anhui team of the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of social sciences has carried out 13 excavations. Within the area of 10000 square meters, 78 house traces, more than 300 tombs and a large number of ash pits and sacrificial pits have been cleared. Nearly ten thousand pieces of precious cultural relics, such as stone tools, pottery, bone ware and clam ware, have been unearthed, providing very important information for the study of the middle and late history of the primitive society in Northern Anhui. From 1989 to 1994, the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences successively carried out eight large-scale excavations, covering an area of more than 7000 square meters. A total of 10 rows (groups) of red burned earth house foundations were cleared, including 41 tombs, 217 tombs, ash pits, sacrificial pits, animal pits, activity squares and other sites. Nearly 10000 pieces of pottery, stone, bone and other cultural relics were unearthed, which were called "comparable to gold mines" by historians Resources ". The site was listed as the fifth batch of national key cultural relics protection units on July 17, 2001.
