Xiaolin Town, located in the middle of Cixi City, is an important expansion area of "East extension" in the "East extension and North Extension" of Cixi City Center. Historical evolution

Name and origin

In Xiaolin, zhoutang was built in the Ming Dynasty and gradually became a village. In the second year of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty (1633), in order to guard against the sea tide and pirates invasion, an earthen platform was built along the path behind zhoutang, which was called xiaolutai and xiaolutou. After that, the residents set up stalls to buy and sell, gradually forming a market. when the town was established in 1920, it was named Xiaolin town after the name of xiaolutou and Shanglin lake.

Evolution of administrative districts

In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Shanglin township of Yuyao county. After the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Linxi township. In July 1950, it was divided into Xiaolin Township and Poshan township. In October 1954, it was assigned to Cixi County, belonging to Xiaolin township. In February 1956, the three townships of Poshan, zele and Dapu were merged, and Xiaolin town was established in April. Xiaolin commune was established in November 1961. Xiaolin township was restored in September 1983. Xiaolin town was reestablished in June 1984.
