It governs 9 administrative villages: Wulian Dongcheng, Hemudu stables, Lushan temple, Luojiang, wengfangjiang, zhongxiaojing, and 1 Community: Hemudu town.

Mudu town is located in the east coast of Zhejiang Province, the East head of Yuyao City, with the world-famous Hemudu site. It is 35 kilometers away from Ningbo Airport and Beilun port. Shanghai Hangzhou Ningbo Expressway and Hangzhou Ningbo canal pass through the territory. The territory is rich in tourism resources, including Hemudu Ruins Museum and Lushan temple with a history of 1200 years. Since the reform and opening up, the town's economy and social undertakings have developed rapidly. It has formed two leading industries with water bamboo as the pillar of agriculture and stainless steel as the leading industry. It is the hometown of water bamboo in China and the stainless steel production base in East China.

Hemudu site

Hemudu site is located in Hemudu Town, Yuyao City, with a total area of about 40000 square meters. After two excavations, 6700 pieces of cultural relics were unearthed, including rich cultivated rice, large area of wooden buildings, various animal and plant remains, as well as a large number of production tools and living utensils. They provided precious material materials for the study of agriculture, architecture, animal husbandry, textile, art and other disciplines and the origin of Chinese civilization, and were named Hedu culture. In 1982, the State Council announced it as the second batch of national key cultural relics protection units.

Hemudu site is one of the most important Neolithic sites along the southeast coast of China. It is characterized by developed rice farming, superb dry fence architecture, unique pottery making technology and advanced water transportation. It truly reflects the prosperous prehistoric civilization of the Yangtze River Basin 7000 years ago. It strongly supports the view that the origin of Chinese culture is pluralistic and proves that the Yangtze River Basin and the Yellow River Basin are the birthplaces of Chinese ancient culture. Therefore, the discovery of Hemudu site is known as one of the most important archaeological discoveries in China in the 20th century.

The construction of the cultural relics exhibition hall of Hemudu Heritage Museum was completed in 1993. Its appearance is simple and wild, which fully reflects the characteristics of the dry column architecture of Hemudu culture. There are three exhibition halls, which are divided into four parts: site profile, rice economy, settlement life and spiritual life, displaying more than 380 unearthed cultural relics. The construction of the site exhibition area was completed in 1999. Two archaeological excavation sites were reconstructed in the site exhibition area, and five dry column buildings were restored, which represented the production and living scenes of some ancestors. In addition, there is "Hemudu ancient fertility culture park" in the on-site exhibition area to introduce to the audience the fertility concepts and behaviors of prehistoric ancestors.

Since its opening to 2008, Hemudu Heritage Museum has received more than 800000 visitors and foreign guests from 86 countries and regions.

Economic industry

Since the reform and opening up, the economic and social undertakings of Hemudu town have developed rapidly. Hemudu has formed ten bases, including Zizania latifolia, lotus root, colored rice, rush, historical tea, bamboo shoots, celery, fruit, intensive fish pond, livestock and poultry. It was named "the hometown of water bamboo in China" by the Ministry of agriculture in 2001. "Ancient site brand" Hemudu double season Zizania latifolia has successively won the honorary titles of Zhejiang famous brand products, Zhejiang green agricultural products, Zhejiang Agricultural scenic spot Expo Gold Award products and national green A-class agricultural products. Hemudu town is rich in tourism resources. There are "Hemudu Site Museum" and sites inscribed by General Secretary Jiang Zemin. Since its opening in 1992, it has received more than 200000 people from state leaders, experts and scholars, Chinese and foreign tourists every year. The "Lushan Temple" with a history of 1200 years has been restored and opened to the public. The scenic spots of the Jin Dynasty, such as bingyuerang temple, "drip spring", "shilichangkeng" and "shuangdiewaterfall", are fascinating and unforgettable.

Hemudu town is located in Yaodong, the terrain is high in the South and low in the north. Yaojiang River and cijiang river systems run through the whole town. The North Plain is surrounded by water, and the terrain is low-lying. The traditional agricultural rice that farmers are engaged in has been restricted by "rotten paddy field" for a long time, the yield is always low, and it is difficult for farmers to increase their income. During the Ninth Five Year Plan period, with the strong support of the Party committee and government at a higher level and the relevant departments, Hemudu vigorously developed the production of Zizania latifolia in accordance with the requirements of industrial restructuring and accelerating the development of efficient agriculture. After five years of efforts, the planting area of Zizania latifolia increased from 4000 mu at the beginning of the ninth five year plan to 20000 mu at the end of the ninth five year plan. Zizania industry has gradually replaced the grain industry and become an effective way for farmers in Hemudu town to become rich and well-off. According to statistics, during the "Ninth Five Year Plan" period, a total of 60000 mu of Zizania latifolia were planted in Hemudu, and the annual income of Zizania latifolia has exceeded 100 million yuan. With its unique charm, Hemudu Zizania latifolia has become a regional characteristic economy of agriculture in Yaodong area, and now it has become an important pillar industry of agriculture in Yuyao City.

industrial development

There are more than 400 industrial enterprises in Hemudu Town, including 108 stainless steel enterprises and 60 large-scale enterprises. The output value accounts for 80% of Hemudu's total economy and the profit and tax account for 70%. With an annual production capacity of more than 400000 tons, it is one of the main production bases of stainless steel industry in East China. The stainless steel functional area of Hemudu town is located in Luojiang village, which has convenient transportation and good industrial foundation in the east of the town. It was built in September 2002, covering an area of 1050 mu, only 3 km away from Hemudu site. By the end of 2004, 62 enterprises had been introduced into the functional zone, including 13 enterprises outside the city and 5 high-tech enterprises, with a total investment of 1074.71 million yuan in fixed assets, of which 3 project enterprises with more than 40 million yuan invested more than 210 million yuan. A total of 63.58 million yuan has been invested in the infrastructure of the functional area, of which more than 50 million yuan has been used for the construction of power supply facilities such as substations, and more than 13 million yuan has been used for road supporting facilities. At present, 56 enterprises have been put into operation in the functional zone, with output value, sales, profits and taxes of 875.83 million yuan, 806.18 million yuan and 82.13 million yuan respectively.
