Tianmushan Town, located in Lin'an District of Hangzhou City, was established in 2011 by merging Zaoxi town and xitianmu township of Lin'an City. Tianmushan town is adjacent to Linglong street and Taihuyuan town in the East, Fuyang District in the south, Yuqian town in the West and Anji County in the north. It has jurisdiction over 23 administrative villages with a population of 36137 (in 2017) and an area of 241.8 square kilometers.

Tianmushan town is the birthplace of tianmushi, one of Qiantang River water system, with beautiful scenery. Evolution of construction

With a long history, Tianmu Mountain is a famous mountain of Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism. Xiao Tong, the prince of Liang Zhaoming in the Southern Dynasty, once compiled the selected works here. Zhang Daoling, a major Taoist in the Western Han Dynasty, was born here to practice Taoism. In dongyuanji of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Tianmu Mountain was called "34 Dongtian". There were more than 50 temples and nunneries in Jin Dynasty when Buddhism entered the mountain. At its peak, there were more than 1000 monks. Since ancient times, Mount Tianmu has had frequent Buddhist exchanges with India and Southeast Asian countries. It is the birthplace of the resurgence of Yongyuan temple in linjizong, Japan. Shizizhengzong temple, built in 1279, and Chanyuan temple, built in 1665, are both famous temples in the south of the Yangtze River. Historically, they are as famous as Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou, and they are the ashram of Weituo Bodhisattva in Buddhism.

Tianmu Mountain is endowed with splendid history and culture by its profound and unique scenery and superior natural environment. Xiao Tong, the prince of Zhaoming in the Liang Dynasty, Li Bai and Bai Juyi in the Tang Dynasty, Su Shi in the Song Dynasty and Zhang Yu in the Yuan Dynasty all left beautiful poems and works handed down from generation to generation. In the Ming Dynasty, more than 100 literati went up to heaven to explore the mountains, chanted their aspirations, and left more than 160 poems. Focusing on the strategic goal of building a town with ecological and economic characteristics, Tianmushan town makes a deep and thorough study of ecology, and promotes the healthy and rapid development of economic and social undertakings. Tianmushan town takes the creation of a "national town with beautiful environment" as the general starting point, actively carries out the management of Tianmushan River Basin, greening, and protection of ecological public welfare forest, increases the protection of mountain forest vegetation and famous trees, and effectively improves the environmental air quality.
