Dangwan town

Dangwan town is a town under the jurisdiction of Xiaoshan District in Hangzhou city. It is located in the east of Xiaoshan District, the South Bank of Qiantang River, and the middle of beautiful and rich Xiaoshao plain. It is adjacent to xinwan town in the north, Dangshan town in the south, and Yinong town and Jingjiang town live separately in the East and west of dangwan. It is a central market town surrounded by towns in the east of Xiaoshan.

On July 29, 2020, the National Patriotic Health Association decided to name dangwan town as a national health township for the period of 2017-2019.

Regional overview

Dangwan Town, 27 km southwest of Xiaoshan District, is a sandy plain formed by sediment deposition on the South Bank of Qiantang River. Xiaoshan International Airport and Shanghai Hangzhou Expressway are close at hand. Dangdang line, weilao line, Meilin Avenue and hongshiwu line run through the whole town, with convenient transportation and smooth ports. The town governs 20 administrative villages and 1 neighborhood committee, with a geographical area of 32.73 square kilometers and 54917 people (2017). Centering on the goal of "creating an important town in the east of Xiaoshan and building a modern new party bay" of the town Party committee and government, the town has been successively rated as a strong education town in Zhejiang Province, a well-off town in Hangzhou, a new rural town in Hangzhou, a health town in Hangzhou and a civilized town in Xiaoshan district since 2000, and has made gratifying achievements in the construction of two civilizations.

Historical evolution

Dang Wan nature town is commonly known as Dang Shan Wan Di, because Dang Shan Wan passes through the town. Dongsha is an ancient town, early people engaged in salt production. In 1951, it was divided into five townships, namely Rongshi, Meidong, dangwan, Messi and Dabei. In 1956, it was merged into two townships, namely dangwan and Xingfu. In 1958, it was a part of cosmopolitan red commune. In 1959, it was the four administrative districts of Yipeng commune. In 1961, it was established as dangwan and Messi commune. In 1969, it was merged into Weidong commune. In 1971, it was rebuilt as dangwan and Messi commune.
