Main lakes and rivers
Luoma Lake
:
Across Suqian and Xinyi, the lake basin is a local depression of Tan Lu fault zone. After the Yellow River seizes the Huaihe River, it becomes a seasonal flood detention area of Yihe River and zhongyun canal. In 1952, Zaohe sluice and yanghetan sluice were built in Daoyi river regulation project. In 1958, Zhangshan sluice and lake embankment were built to become detention reservoirs. The lake covers an area of 296 square kilometers (corresponding water level of 21.81 meters), with a storage capacity of 270 million cubic meters. The maximum width is 20 km, the lake bottom elevation is 18-21 m, the maximum water depth is 5.5 m, and there are more than 60 islands. It is the fourth largest freshwater lake in Jiangsu Province.
Central canal
:
It is a man controlled River, the flow direction of the river is uncertain, the natural flow direction is from north to south, and the flow direction is opposite during the south to north water diversion. The Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal is 16 kilometers in Suqian City, with an average water level of 30.15 meters, a maximum water level of 32.99 meters, a minimum water level of 28.2 meters, an average flow of 12.48 m3 / s and a maximum flow of 422 m3 / s. Suqian section of the Grand Canal has many functions, such as shipping, flood control, drainage, agricultural irrigation, urban industrial water supply and so on.
Xiaoyanhe
:
It is named for Yanzhuang along the coast. Xiaoyan river is the boundary river between Suining County and Suqian City. The river was excavated in 1950, connecting Xuhong River in the West and pihong River in the East, with a total length of 27.7 km, including Suqian section of 8.5 km, Suining section of 15.2 km, estuary width of 30 m, water depth of 3 m, river bottom elevation of 17 m, irrigation area of 11000 mu, drainage area of 36 square kilometers. In 1978, a new water pumping station was built, and the Xiaoyan river was cut off. In Gupi Town, the Xiaoyan river was renamed cuiwafangdagou. Now the total length of Xiaoyan river is about 10 kilometers.
Ancient Yellow River
:
Its original name is "abandoned Yellow River". It was formed by the flood in 1128, the second year of Jianyan in the Southern Song Dynasty. After the Yellow river changed its course in 1885, the ancient Yellow River was no longer navigable. Because it mainly receives domestic sewage of some urban residents and industrial wastewater discharged by coastal factories, it has poor natural dilution capacity and its water source mainly depends on natural rainfall, so it is called "waste Yellow River".
