Touzao town
Touzao is the birthplace of Yanhai salt culture. Before Hongwu of Ming Dynasty, it was an endless sea. In the middle and late Ming Dynasty, because of the national turmoil, the changmen people in Suzhou found their own way to make a living and used natural resources to build stoves to burn salt. Because of Luo and Li's first work, they got the name of Touzao, which is known as "the first stove in the world".
Touzao town of Dongtai City is located on the coast of the Yellow Sea in the east of Central Jiangsu Province, with a north subtropical marine climate. It has four distinct seasons, sufficient sunshine, annual rainfall of 1100 mm, annual average temperature of 15 ℃, annual sunshine of 2210 hours, and average frost free period of 237 days. The territory belongs to the alluvial plain of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, with an average elevation of 3.5 meters above sea level, and the bearing capacity of the foundation is more than 10t / m2. Touzao belongs to the economic development zone along the Yangtze River in the golden triangle and is within the economic radiation circle of Shanghai. It has jurisdiction over one community management committee and 34 administrative villages, with a total area of 206.75 square kilometers (2017) and a total population of 75151 (2017).
In July 2020, the National Patriotic Health Association decided to name Touzao town as a national health Township in the period of 2017-2019.

Touzao town belongs to Dongtai City, Jiangsu Province. It is the central area town on Dongdu line of Dongtai City. It is adjacent to nanshenzao town of Dongtai City in the South and WANYING town of Dafeng District of Yancheng City across the river in the north. It is an important industrial town in Dongtai City.
Touzao is located in the outskirts of Dongtai City, with superior geographical position. There are Liangduo River in the south, Dongtai River in the middle, and Chuandong port in the north. 333 provincial road and 226 provincial road run through the territory, with convenient water and land transportation. Touzao town is mushroom shaped, with high terrain in the South and low terrain in the north. Before Hongwu of Ming Dynasty, it used to be an endless sea with rolling tides. Due to the impact of sea water, a large number of sediment deposited on the beach, the sea gradually moved eastward, gradually forming a beach. In the middle and late Ming Dynasty, because of the national turmoil, the changmen people in Suzhou sought their own way of making a living and moved here. They planted grass as the standard, delimited land as the boundary, built thatched houses to live in, and used natural resources to build stoves to burn salt. Because changmen people built the first salt stove here at that time, it was named "Touzao". Touzao is one of the old revolutionary bases in Yanfu area of Central Jiangsu. In this hot land, how many people with lofty ideals have sacrificed their lives to defend the country. Historical evolution
In 2010, the organizational system of caozhen town and Touzao town was abolished, and the areas under the jurisdiction of caozhen town and Touzao town were merged to establish a new Touzao town. The town government was stationed at No. 48, Xinzhen Road, touzaoji town. After the adjustment of administrative divisions, the administrative area of Touzao town is 206.75 square kilometers (2017), with a population of 75151 people (2017), and has jurisdiction over 34 administrative villages. On April 19, the new Touzao town was officially established, and the caozhen Community Management Committee of Touzao town was established. The former caozhen town is located in the northeast of Dongtai City, facing Xincao town across the xipanbao River in the East, Sancang town in the south, Touzao town in the West and Daqiao town in Dafeng City in the north, 35 kilometers away from Dongtai City.. The former liuzao township is located in the southeast of Dongtai City, 30 kilometers away from the urban area. It was established as liuzao commune in 1981 and changed to liuzao Township in 1983. In 1996, it covers an area of 65.7 square kilometers and has a population of 26000. Meaning of place names
According to county records, during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, two surnames Luo and Li moved here to burn salt for a living. It was the first stove in the east at that time, so it was named Touzao.
Transportation advantages
Touzao town is one of the key towns in Dongtai City, close to Dongtai, where the municipal government is stationed. The west end of the town is close to Xinchang railway, which connects Longhai line in the north and Huning line in the south. There are 226 provincial highway, 333 provincial highway, 344 national highway, toufu highway, 204 National Highway and Ningjing salt Expressway.
