Donghuji town is located in the northeast of Lianshui County, Huai'an City, Jiangsu Province. In the East, it is separated by Yifan River, Xiguan River and Guyan River, and is adjacent to Nanlu office, Tangji town and Huangying Township respectively; in the west, it is adjacent to Lianzhong main canal and Shima office; in the south, it is adjacent to Dadong town and Mapeng farm; in the north, it is adjacent to Wugang town and Fangdu office, and provincial highway 308 crosses the East and West. Lianzhong main canal, Yifan River and Xiguan River pass through the territory. Yifan river is the main drainage channel in this area, up to Xiguan River and Guyan River; Lianzhong main canal uses Hongze Lake water to irrigate through Yanhe River. 327 provincial highway, Lianxin highway transit. Most of the town area belonged to Wugang town in Qing Dynasty, Wugang City in early Republic of China, seventh district in 1929, Fourth District and Sixth District after 1934. In the spring of 1945, the Anti Japanese democratic government of Lianshui County established Huji district. In June 1954, the district was withdrawn to Township, belonging to Wugang district. In December 1957, Huji township was composed of Huji Township, doudun Township, Ludu Township and hulou township. Huji commune was established in September 1958. In October 1981, when the place name was surveyed, it was renamed donghuji commune because it had the same name as Huji Township in Muyang county. In June 1983, it was renamed donghuji township. In 1997, the township was removed to build a town.

In 1996, donghuji Township, with an area of 68 square kilometers and a population of 31000, has jurisdiction over 22 administrative villages including Huji, Yuzhuang, Haohe, Lianhua, luoxu, Panwei, Dazhuang, Yanhuang, doudun, Jiangqiao, Machang, Fuxing, biewa, Hubie, Huayuan, Xiaonian, xuelao, Qiuling, jienan, Zhangwei, huxie and Jiangduo. In 2003, donghuji town had jurisdiction over three neighborhood committees of Huji, Shima and Qiaoxi, and 20 administrative villages (including Shima Office) of Ludu, Qingong, Jiangwei, Liwei, Baiguo, Malao, Quxi, huxie, Hunan, Xiaonian, Fuxing, biewa, Zhenbei, donghuayuan, Yanhuang, doudun, Jiangqiao, Chenwei, huangwan and Jima.

Huji town is located in the north east of Lianshui County. It is adjacent to Shihu Town, Tangji town and Huangying Township in the East, Hongyao town in the west, Dadong town in the South and Wugang town in the north. Donghu market town has a long history, rich cultural heritage and a large number of celebrities. Donghu market town has convenient transportation and dense road network. It is 20 kilometers away from Lianshui County, 25 kilometers away from Ninglian expressway, 50 kilometers away from Huai'an railway station, 30 kilometers away from the exit of Beijing Shanghai Expressway and 40 kilometers away from Heisan expressway. 327 provincial highway, Lianxin highway, and an Da first-class highway (Yangzhou Lianyungang), which is about to start construction, pass through the territory. It is 30 kilometers away from Huai'an Lianshui airport and 100 kilometers away from Lianyungang port. The golden waterway Yanhe River is under reconstruction, which can carry 1000 tons of single ships, forming a fast three-dimensional transportation network of land, water, air and rail, crisscross and extending in all directions.

Donghuji has a pleasant environment and good ecology. Adjacent to Lianshui's mother river, Yanhe River, the "five to three" project to build a golden waterway is just around the corner. Liandong main canal, Yifan River and Xiguan River pass through the territory. There are more than 3000 mu of poplar forest with a forest coverage rate of 25%. Donghuji has great potential for industrial development. The industrial base is weak and still in its infancy. It is mainly resource processing and labor-intensive. There are 32 private factories, more than 10 wood processing enterprises, 2 large scale refined rice mills, and Baijiu making, gloves, clothing and other processing enterprises. The industrial concentration area is under planning and construction.

Donghu is rich in natural resources. At present, there are 30000 Mu pollution-free rice planting base, 12000 Mu rape planting area, 5000 mu soybean planting area, 500 mu facility vegetables, and 250000 cubic meters timber stock. There are 4000 live pigs, 100000 Rex Rabbits and 50000 meat pigeons in the market every year; there are 2000 mu of fish, 300 mu of crab, 200 mu of lobster and 50 mu of mandarin fish. Located in the southeast of Xiaonian village, adjacent to Xinzhuang street and Industrial South District, 327 provincial road passes through the area, and the construction of central village is in full swing. With the rapid development of industrial economy, the project of garment making, embroidery, prefabrication, wood processing and mahogany technology has been launched; with the rapid development of efficient agriculture, the existing flower area is 200 mu, the annual output of 100000 pigs is under construction, and the greenhouse vegetable area is more than 200 mu.
