Houzui Street

Houzui, formerly known as houzui Town, the seat of the former Yuntai district Party committee and government, was withdrawn from the town in June 2000 to set up a sub district office. In November 2001, after the cancellation of Yuntai District, houzui street was under the jurisdiction of Xinpu district.

In 2005, according to the spirit of lianzhengfu No.1 document, Lianyun and Taoan streets were abolished and a new Lianyun street was established. According to Jiangsu provincial government's "reply on agreeing to adjust part of the administrative divisions of Lianyungang City" (No.20 of suzhengfu) and Lianyungang Municipal Government's "notice on putting houzui sub district office of Xinpu district under the jurisdiction of Lianyun District" (No.76 of lianzhengfa, April 26), houzui sub district of Xinpu District and the sea areas and tidal flats within its jurisdiction were put under the jurisdiction of Lianyun District. After the adjustment, Lianyun District has an administrative area of 506.35 square kilometers and a population of 198000, with jurisdiction over four streets, four towns and four townships.

In November 2005, houzui street was put under the management of the development zone.

After a new round of administrative division adjustment, houzui district covers an area of 107.5 square kilometers, with seven communities (Zhenyun, yantuo, Wenming, Xinmin, Xinhang, Changwei and Huangshatuo) and one village, with a permanent population of about 26000.

Houzui is famous for its rich production of Huai salt. Its place name is commonly known as "yantuo" (the distribution center of Huai salt), and it has the reputation of "salt capital of Northern Jiangsu". Before the 1980s, houzui has been the seat of the salt district government and the distribution center of Huai salt, and also the center of the intensive development of Huai salt industry, such as salt production, salt administration, deep processing, transportation and sales. Taipei salt farm is one of the eight key salt farms in Jiangsu Province, and Huai salt is the representative brand of China Sea salt. Houzui has outstanding location advantages and convenient transportation. It is located in the core area of the spatial layout of the port city. It is the first stop of the city's Eastward Development. It is close to Huaguoshan scenic area, Xinhai New District in the south, Lingang Industrial Zone and Lianyun new city in the north, Lianyungang high tech Zone in the west, where Huaguoshan Avenue and Gangcheng Avenue meet Dao and 242 provincial road are the heart of Lianyungang. With the development of "one axis and two zones" urban functional group construction in the Development Zone, as an important gateway city of the development zone and a key node area on the urban axis, in recent years, the economic and social development of houzui street has shown a good trend of leapfrogging and overtaking and accelerating transformation. In 2015, houzui Street achieved a public budget revenue of 95 million yuan, an increase of 13.5%, completed industrial investment above scale of 1.19 billion yuan, an increase of 24.5%, and added 5 Enterprises above scale, including 3 industrial enterprises, with actual utilization of foreign capital of 10.25 million US dollars. The streets of the whole district ranked first in the year-end assessment, and were selected into the "top 20" of Lianyungang town and street economic development in 2016. houzui Street thoroughly implements the decision-making and deployment of the Development Zone, carries out the theme activity of "innovation and reform year" around the goal of building "yanyunhouzui" which is suitable for Industry and living, strongly promotes the "243" key projects, and strives to seize the opportunity in the new round of development, achieve a good start of the "13th five year plan" and ensure a complete victory in the first battle. From January to may, the street is expected to achieve industrial investment above designated scale of 466 million yuan, an increase of 19.82%, and public budget revenue of 44 million yuan, an increase of 11%. in the context of a new round of zoning adjustment, houzui District, relying on the salt transportation culture, strives to build a characteristic leisure business center, which has become the representative of the new plate of the port city, with rapid development momentum and increasing social attention.
