Zhengyu town

Zhengyu town is located in Haimen District, Nantong City, Jiangsu Province. It is one of the 19 municipal central towns determined by Nantong City, which was formed by the merger of Zhengyu town and Wanghao town at the end of 2012.

Zhengyu town is located in the east of the north of Haimen District, adjacent to Yudong Town in the south, Baochang town (HaimenGang New Area) in the East, Sijia town in the west, Sanyu town and Haiyan town in Tongzhou District in the north. It has a total area of 76.36 square kilometers (2017), cultivated land area of 3592 hectares, 17 administrative villages and 2 communities. The total population of the town is 52889 (2017).

In 2014, the town's GDP reached 4.705 billion yuan. The total fiscal revenue was 183 million yuan, the local general budget revenue was 73 million yuan, the taxable sales was 2.25 billion yuan, the storage tax was 135 million yuan, the industrial power consumption was 67.42 million kilowatts, the fixed assets investment was 1.96 billion yuan, and the fixed assets deduction was 7 million yuan.

There are many scenic spots in Zhengyu Town, such as Shaolong temple, Wang Hao martyr cemetery, Ma Yunshan Memorial Hall and so on. In September 2018, it was selected into the list of demonstration construction of strong agricultural towns.

In July 2020, it won the honorary title of national health Township from 2017 to 2019.

History of construction

The administrative setup of Zhengyu town began in the late Jiaqing period of Qing Dynasty.

In the reign of Xuantong of Qing Dynasty (1909-1911), there was a general system under the jurisdiction of yudongchang. In the early years of the Republic of China, there was a director system.

In 1933, it was changed to township and Baojia was built.

In the spring of 1943, Baojia was abolished and changed into a village.

In November 1957, Zhengyu township was established.

In October 1958, Zhengyu people's commune was established.

In 1983, it was renamed Zhengyu township.

In 1996, Zhengyu township was withdrawn and Zhengyu town was established.

In 2012, Zhengyu town and Wanghao town were abolished, and the former two towns were merged to establish a new Zhengyu town.

Shaolong Temple

Shaolong temple, covering an area of 18 mu, has 2500 square meters of buildings, including Mountain Gate, Tianwang hall, Daxiong hall, east-west wing room, faliutongchu, Zhaitang, fangshengchi, Zudian, etc. Shaolong temple, formerly known as wangzao temple, was built in 1321 between Yuan Dynasty and Zhi Dynasty. It is mainly dedicated to the worship of Hua Tuo. It covers an area of nearly 3 mu and is a quadrangle.
