As a Chinese idiom, the Pinyin is s ǎ s ǎ oy ì ngdu ì, which means watering the floor in return for the guests. It is one of the basic contents of Confucian education and learning in feudal times. It comes from preface to college chapters and sentences.
The origin of Idioms
Zhu Xi of the Song Dynasty wrote the preface to the chapters and sentences of the great learning: "when you are eight years old, you are under the prince. As for the children of the common people, they all go to primary school, and they are taught how to deal with the advance and retreat, and how to use rites and music to write the number of books."
