Idiom story
In his later years, Qin Shihuang went to Kuaiji for a visit. Prime Minister Li Si and Zhongche Fu ordered Zhao Gao to accompany him. Because the first emperor of Qin was very partial to his youngest son Hu Hai, he took Hu hai to travel with him, but none of his other sons went with him. In July of this year, when Qin Shihuang came to the sand dune, he was very ill. Knowing that he was about to die, he asked Zhao Gao to write a letter to Fusu, the eldest son of the leader stationed at the border, and asked him to rush back to the capital Xianyang immediately to preside over the funeral. Zhao Gaogang had just finished writing the imperial edict, but the first emperor of Qin was out of breath, because Zhao Gao was usually in charge of the jade seal of the first emperor of Qin. In this way, the imperial edict and jade seal of Qin Shihuang fell into Zhao Gao's hands; therefore, Zhao Gao and Hu Hai conspired to forge an imperial edict, saying that Qin Shihuang made Hu Hai Prince and let Hu Hai succeed. Li Siqi, the prime minister, first disagreed. Later, under Zhao Gao's threat and inducement, he was forced to agree. Then Zhao Gao forged another imperial edict, saying that Fusu was not filial, and gave him a sword to commit suicide. He also sent someone to seize the military power of Meng Tian, the general who guarded the border with Fusu, and forced him to commit suicide. After a conspiracy, Hu Hai became emperor, known as Qin II. Zhao Gao became a doctor. From then on, the power of the court fell to Zhao Gao. Qin II was very fatuous and tyrannical. He was afraid that others would see through his conspiracy with Zhao Gao, and he could not sit on the throne, so he asked Zhao Gao what to do? The treacherous and insidious Zhao Gao said: "we must adopt the severe punishment and cool law to get rid of all those old ministers and replace them with new ones." After hearing this, Qin II ordered Meng Yi and other senior officials to be executed, decapitated all the twelve princesses who threatened his throne, and executed all the ten princesses by torture. Countless people were killed because of the involvement, which made the whole court in chaos. Qin II and Zhao Gao used this cruel method to kill their relatives and ministers, which was even more cruel to the common people. The life of the broad masses of the people was unbearable and intolerable, which finally aroused the resistance of the broad masses of the people. Soon after, Chen Sheng and Wu Guang rose up and held an uprising in daze township. Three years later, the Qin Dynasty was destroyed by the rebels.
