Idioms and allusions
On the ninth Double Ninth Festival in September 663, governor Yan of Hongzhou gave a banquet at the newly built Tengwang Pavilion, and local celebrities were invited to attend. Wang Bo happened to pass by and was invited to attend. Because he was only fourteen years old, he was placed in an inconspicuous seat. Yan Dudu's son-in-law is very good at writing articles. Yan Dudu asked him to write a preface in advance so as to show off in public. When everyone was drunk, governor Yan stood up and said, "today the literati and refined scholars of Hongzhou are gathering together. You must write down this grand meeting. You are all celebrities of today. Please write Fu as a preface, so that Tengwang Pavilion and Miaowen can live together for thousands of years. After that, the waiter will put the pen and paper in front of everyone. But everyone pushed around, and no one wrote. Later, he pushed it in front of Wang Bo. Wang Bojing took the pen and paper and bowed his head to meditate. After a while, Wang Bo rolled up his sleeve and waved a brush. Seeing that it was a young man who started to write, Yan Dudu was not very happy. He went out of the hall and looked at the river scenery from the fence. He asked the attendant to copy the sentences written by Wang Bo to him at any time. After a while, the servant copied the sentence at the beginning of the preface to Tengwang Pavilion: "old county of Nanchang, new mansion of Hongdu. The stars are divided into light wings, and the earth connects with Henglu. " The place where Teng Yuge is located used to belong to Nanchang Prefecture, but now it belongs to your Hongzhou Prefecture. It is surrounded by Ji and an, and the ground connects Hengshan and Lushan. Yan Dudu looked at it and thought that it was just a platitude. Everyone could write it and laughed it off. In fact, these 16 words clearly explain the history and geography of Nanchang, crisscrossing and extraordinary. Then, the attendant copied another two sentences: "the three rivers and the five lakes, the control of man Jing and lead more." Yan Dudu was a little surprised. He thought that the young man, with the three rivers (Jingjiang, Xiangjiang and Zhejiang) as his skirt and the five lakes (Taihu, duyang, QingCaoHu, Danyang and Dongting) as his ribbon, not only controlled the vast land of Chu in the south, but also led to the fertile land of Yue in the East. Twist the Qi of heaven and earth. It is impossible to write such a bold sentence without a big mind and a big hand. The attendant then copied up a few words, and even made governor Yan eat and plunder: "things are rich and precious, the Dragon light shoots at the ruins of cattle fighting, and the outstanding people, Xu Ru leaves Chen Fan's couch." It turns out that Wang Bo used two allusions here. The former allusion is that the essence of the matter is that there are treasures in the sky. The light of the Longquan sword is directly between the twenty-eight lodging houses and the cattle lodging in the sky. It means there is a treasure in Hongzhou. The latter allusion says that Xu Ru, a native of Nanchang in the Eastern Han Dynasty, was a poor family and did not want to be an official, but he was a good friend with Chen fan, the great governor. Chen Fan specially set up a couch for the reception of Xu Ru. It means Hongzhou has outstanding talents. The more he looked at it, the more tasteful he was. The more he looked at it, the more he admired it. He repeatedly praised "wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful essays are rare!" and never let his son-in-law take out the prefaces he had written in advance. After Wang Bo finished writing, he went to governor Yan and said modestly, "if you make a fool of yourself, you can see how governor Yan can teach you." Governor Yan was happy, he said: "you are really a genius today!" so he sat down again. Governor Jing regarded Wang Bo as a guest of honor and sat with him personally.
