Behind the scenes production
Creative background
In 2008, director Zhang qiaoyong saw on TV that Chinese player Zou Shiming won the 48kg boxing championship in Beijing Olympic Games, which made him deeply inspired by his childhood practice of Chinese martial arts: is there a boxing competition in China? What are the main ways of boxing training in China? Do they have something to do with Chinese martial arts? The film was inspired by this.
shooting process
He commissioned the producer wentonick and the private production organization "China TV remote" in mainland China to conduct field research in advance, and determined the Sichuan boxing team training base as the shooting site, and selected two athletes as the shooting objects. After winning enough money from the international market, the film crew began filming for a year and a half. Zhang qiaoyong used the photography team of "return train", using 5D II as the basic photography equipment. Like many documentary writers, no one knows the future ending of the story, and the film crew just follows it over and over again.
Film evaluation
The film shows a kind of inspiring spirit (< I > comment on Andy Lau < / I >). Through a more cinematic narrative, it selects three boxers of different ages and personalities to show the Boxers' happy life from the perspective of observation, with ups and downs of rhythm and the close shooting of boxing, which makes the whole film happy and sad, which can be called a touching work (< I > Oriental Morning Post Review < / I >). It's much better than what most of the people who claim to be making documentaries do, but it still lacks some aura. It's a product of mature technology and serious work, but on the whole, there is still a way to move (< I > Netease Entertainment Review < / I >). In this boxing themed documentary, the boxing and life of Qi Moxiang, a boxing coach in Huili County, Sichuan Province, and his two apprentices he Zongli and Miao Yunfei are recorded in three main lines. The film editing and soundtrack are very smooth. The strong contrast editing and the strong drum music produce a strong sense of rhythm, which makes the whole film have dramatic ups and downs. The depth of field is very shallow and the picture quality is sharp. The film also uses a lot of empty lens, pays attention to the social environment outside the story, and adds a sense of emptiness and Zen. With the help of the real story and the lens of the director, we can see the helpless real life of the bottom Chinese (< I > China culture daily Review < / I >).
