Chapter 58 of Lao Tzu: "misfortune is where happiness lies, and happiness is where misfortune lies." The interpretation of Wang Aijun's collection of essays of Junyou association is that misfortune and fortune depend on each other. Its meaning originates from Lao Tzu: "misfortune is where fortune depends, and fortune is where misfortune lies.". (Chapter 58) later, Zhuangzi's Zeyang chapter said, "in times of peace and peril, in times of happiness and in times of adversity.". However, the idea of the combination of misfortune and fortune originated from the book of changes, which is one end of the most ancient Chinese philosophy. According to the philosophy of the book of changes, all things in the universe are derived from one "Tao". Tao is the popular meaning, and its popularity is the circle of Tao, such as ups and downs, life and death, heat and cold, day and night, and the interaction of hardness and softness. It is the popularity of nature, and there is nothing human can do about it. At that time, the prosperity, human life, the heat of the year, the day of the day, the rigidity of the things reached the extreme, and the nature changed into decline, death, cold, night and softness. Ordinary people don't know this principle. They always stick to prosperity, life, heat, day and hardness, and regard them as blessings. The book of changes clarifies this principle, that is, the disasters of decline, death, cold, night and softness are the same as blessings. They are the "Tao" of nature and are born by treating each other. Lao Tzu's anti Tao movement, strong things lead to old age, positive recovery is strange, good recovery is demon and so on. Again, the righteousness of fortune and misfortune is based on whether to obey the Tao. Obedience to the Tao is fortune, and disobedience to the Tao is misfortune. We know that Tao is popular, when the ups and downs, life and death, cold and heat change, that is to say, we advance and retreat with it, and do not insist on it. In this way, we are often in the blessing, although the disaster comes, but we are not burdened by it. Sometimes we go against the Tao and suffer from it, that is to say, we can see the cause of the disaster and turn the wrong into the right way. In this way, we can get happiness because of the disaster, which can also be called the combination of disaster and happiness. The above two meanings are very common in the thought of the ancients before Qin Dynasty.
