Idiom story
Wang Yu, a scholar of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, was quick witted and courageous when he was a child. His prose and poems were well written. At the age of 20, he was employed by Ma Huanwen, the Chief Secretary of the imperial court, as the main book. Once, in order to test Wang's courage, Huan Wen deliberately rode a horse from the back hall to the hall when he was meeting in the Da Sima mansion. All the staff members were so scared that they lost their fingers and fled everywhere. Wang Xian was the only one who was calm and didn't move. Huan Wen sighed that he said: "the one who can sit still in the face of galloping horse must be a blackhead man in the future!" In order to test Wang Xian's talent and learning, Huan Wen sent someone to steal Wang Xian's speech while his staff were discussing the business. When Wang Si spoke, he was eloquent. Huan Wen took out his manuscripts and compared them. He found that the contents he said were the same as those in the manuscripts, but none of the words were the same. He could not help admiring him very much. One night, Wang Si had a dream in which someone gave him a large sum of money like a rafter. When he woke up, he said to his family, "I dreamt that someone gave me a lot of money like rafters. It seems that I have something big to do." Wang Xian's prophecy immediately became true. On that morning, Emperor Xiaowu of Jin Dynasty died suddenly. Because of Wang Si's excellent writing style, the imperial court's mourning policy, obituary and Emperor Xiaowu's comments were all drafted by him. This kind of honor is rare in history.
