Zhou Ji, born in Shanghai on August 26, 1946, is an expert in mechanical engineering, academician of the Chinese Academy of engineering, foreign academician of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences, foreign academician of the National Academy of engineering, former president of Huazhong University of science and technology, former mayor of Wuhan, former director of the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China, and former president of the Chinese Academy of engineering.
