Wu Yuru was a keen calligrapher when she was young. She learned to write when she was 5 years old. By the time she was 12 or 13 years old, she had already acquired considerable skill in writing small regular script and running script. After decades of study and study, he was able to integrate the styles of various schools, taking the advantages of the famous masters of Tang, song, yuan and Qing Dynasties, and taking the two kings (Xizhi and Xianzhi) as his guide. He has formed his unique style of elegant, vigorous, bold and ethereal. Li, Kai, Xing, Cao and Zhuan are all excellent. Its small regular script can be copied as a large script after being enlarged, which shows its superb skill. His running script and cursive script have the highest attainments among the four styles of calligraphy, which is a collection of the strengths of the famous masters of the past dynasties. On the rugged face of the fan, you can write big grass without any failure. He has his own habits and opinions in using paper, pen and ink. In his early years, he did not use yubanxuan, but preferred Shengxuan and Yaoban. In his middle age, he only used mianlian. He liked to use light ink, but hated ink. He was also good at using long sharp yanghaobi.
Wu Yuru has profound attainments in ancient prose, poetry, writing and so on. He has held personal calligraphy exhibitions in China and Japan for many times and has been highly praised at home and abroad. His disciples and even private friends spread all over the north and south, as far as the border of Xinjiang, Nicole County, Kunming and Dali in Yunnan, Guangdong and Guangxi.

Anecdotes of characters
Fortune telling and health preservation
Mr. Wu Yuru, a scholar and great calligrapher, was very weak when he was young. He once asked a fortune teller to calculate his fortune, but the fortune teller did not when he was 55. Mr. Wu knew in his heart that the fortune teller thought he could live. As a result, he was seriously ill and nearly lost his life. After that, Mr. Wu paid special attention to personal hygiene and health. When I eat outside, I bring my bowl and chopsticks. I have a bad lung. I use my handkerchief to block my nose when I clean the blackboard. Mr. Wu has always insisted on physical exercise. In addition to walking exercise, he also plays horizontal bar in the courtyard of his residence in Zhaoyao lane, Machang road. As a result, when he was 84 years old, Mr. Wu always thought that one's fate could be changed by self-cultivation. (Li Jiaming, 100 days of holiday News)

A master of modern calligraphy
Mr. Wu Yuru (1898-1982) did not accept the title of "calligrapher". Like Wu Yu, Pu Xinyu, a great painter of her time, once said, "if you want to call me a painter, you should call me a calligrapher; if you want to call me a calligrapher, you should call me a poet; if you want to call me a poet, you should call me a scholar." However, not all things in the world follow the will of the individual. Today people refer to Wu Yuru and Pu Xinshe as great calligraphers and painters. The same is true in history. Although Wang Xizhi, who is regarded as a great calligrapher by later generations, wrote a preface to Lanting, which is a beautiful article that has been passed on for thousands of years, people pay more attention to the calligraphy of the preface to Lanting. Another example is Yu Shinan, Chu suiliang, ou Yangxun, Yan Zhenqing, Li Beihai and so on in the Tang Dynasty. Who is not a learned man full of heart and soul, and who has made many achievements in his life, but it was eventually covered by the title of the book, and later generations are all aimed at being calligraphers. In this way, Mr. Wu Yuru should not refuse the title of calligrapher. What's more, who let Mr. Wu write so beautiful, so good, so exquisite and so extreme!
Evaluation of famous experts
Before I was the editor of Wu Yuru's handwritten works, Tianjin Ancient Books Publishing House had published many calligraphy books, such as the poems written by the old man, Wu Yuru's thousand character running script, and Wu Yuru's theory of linleyi. Here, let's take a look at the comments of some famous experts on Mr. Yu Ru
Qigong: "there has been no such great achievement in three hundred years" and "no second since Dong Qichang".
Zhao Puchu: "Mr. Yu Ru's calligraphy, the dragon and the tiger lie down, and his mind can't be drawn up."
Zhang Boju, a great collector, said: "the style of Jin and Tang Dynasties is a contemporary giant."
Li kuchan, a painter, said: "the jade is as good as the official script. It's really an immortal cultural relic for thousands of years. It should be the most important treasure."
Calligraphy master Wang xiaju: "the product is between Wang NEISHI (that is, Wang Xizhi) and Yan Zhenqing."
Comments by Wang quanju
As Wang quanju, a literary critic, said: Wu Yuru, like any master of calligraphy, failed to surpass history and become the founder of the school. However, when he was placed among the masters of calligraphy in the 20th century, Wu Yuru was undoubtedly the best among them. In the golden age of his creation, he lived on porridge, but left so many precious art treasures for us and generations to enjoy.
