Profile
Wu Dianbang, a native of Fengxi township (now Fengxi District), Haiyang County, was born in 1612, the 40th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty. He was a Jinshi in the middle of the next year and was promoted to Shang Baoqing by the general counsellor. Wu Dianbang is erudite and versatile. He is good at writing and is famous in the world of calligraphy. His calligraphy activities have influenced many folklores. In Chaozhou folk tales collection, there are 13 things, which are not inferior to the legends of the number one scholar Lin Daqin and Shangshu Huang Jin. However, Wu Dianbang's handwriting is not much. The carvings scattered all over his hometown are: "fengpyrene in shanguo", "fenglaoshanmen ancient; xishen guozechang", "Jianwei Wensheng", "Fengxi", "Chi Muju", "Sijing at the beginning", "shushuchu", "Sanshi Shangshu", "Yuanlao in four dynasties", "Shaoqing in Dali", etc., as well as 34 characters of "Xiaofa" stele. As for calligraphy and ink, after hundreds of years of natural and man-made disasters, it has almost disappeared. Today, only two pieces of paper-based vertical scrolls can be seen in Chenghai and Shantou museums. The former is a five character poem: "cattle without weeds, hamsters have surplus food, everything has been set, floating life blank busy." Signed by Dianbang. The latter is a seven character poem, with the last two sentences as "the poem is full of imagination, and the powder is full of emotion." Signed by Wu Dianbang. These two works are stamped with two seals, and the time is not recorded. According to its style, it should be a work of the same period, and the writing on the front axle is more vigorous. Wu Dianbang's calligraphy is quite similar to that of Wang Duo, a national famous calligrapher of the same time. They all learned from Mi Fu, a calligrapher of the Song Dynasty and became their own family. Looking at the existing handwriting, we can see that the most prominent feature of Wu's study of rice calligraphy is the combination of body and side, and it plays a very wonderful role. On his plaque, there are four characters, each of which has obvious momentum. This is a flat "door", "thinking" word, but also because of the side take power and dynamic. On the other hand, for the stability and solemnity of the plaque as a whole, the words "entry" on the right face to the left, and the words "Si Jing" on the left face to the right. The words on the left and right are moving towards the center. The shape of the character "ru" is particularly wonderful. It reduces the right-handed and exaggerates the left-handed. This abnormal exaggeration makes the character take charge of the overall situation and achieve a symmetrical balance with the character "Jing" to achieve the overall stable effect. In Wu Dianbang's other works, the power of side taking also exists. This technique breaks through the straight glyph and gains active vitality. Wu Dianbang's calligraphy art is far ahead in the local calligraphy circle, and it is not inferior in the national calligraphy circle. He is a star shining in the history of Chaozhou calligraphy.
story
Wu Dianbang's downfall
Wu Dianbang, a talented man in Chaozhou, was always conceited of his talent, but once he gave up to a glutinous rice dumpling seller. When he was in his hometown, it happened that Fucheng was going to build a memorial archway for Shaoqing Wu of Dali at the entrance of Zaoxiang street. Wu Guanyi was born in Caitang, Chaozhou. He was a Jinshi in 1481. He was promoted to the imperial censor and patrolled Zhejiang Province. He punished corruption and eliminated bandits in Fujian Province. He made great achievements. After his death, Chaozhou people built memorial archways to commemorate him. The memorial archway should be written as "Dali Shaoqing" and "JINGLUE bianwu". Of course, Wu Dianbang is the only one who wields the brush. After Wu Dianbang accepted the task, he also carefully conceived and wrote eight good words. After the completion of the memorial archway, many literati and young and old people come to appreciate the iron stroke and silver hook every day. There is an endless stream of admirers every day. Wu Dianbang mixed in and was overjoyed to hear people's praise. But one day, someone said, "what's so great about this? If I write it, it's much better than him!" Wu Dianbang heard the sound and turned to see who said it. It turned out that it was a peddler selling dumplings on the roadside! Why does the glutinous rice dumpling seller say that? Because he does business here every day, and his business is good. However, as soon as the memorial archway was built, people who came to appreciate the good words surrounded his stall, which made his business very cold, so he complained. Wu Dianbang stepped forward. The dumpling seller didn't know Wu Dianbang. He thought he was coming to buy dumplings, so he said hello warmly. But Wu Dianbang asked, "brother, how about you write about it?" The peddler replied, "I'm poor since I was a child. I can't write or read, so I have to learn how to make tangyuan. If I had practiced Tangyuan since I was a child, I would be better than Wu Dianbang!" Wu Dianbang said, "what skills do you have in selling dumplings?" "Well! The ability is strong! For example, if you want to buy 4 dumplings for 1 yuan, I will buy 12 dumplings for a spoonful, no more or no less! Four bucks, 16 bucks, no mistake. " Wu Dianbang refused and said, "good! I'll buy you five dollars! " The peddler said, "come on, money!" Wu Dianbang gave him the money. The peddler scooped the spoon into the pot and said, "look, 20 grains. If there is a mistake, I'll pay you back the five pieces of money!" Wu Dian Bang counted them carefully and found 20. He said, "six dollars!" Another spoon up, one count, 24! "Three dollars!" One spoon, 12. Several times in a row, one is not bad. Wu Dianbang admits defeat! After that, he was no longer complacent beside the archway. in the Guichou year of Wanli in Ming Dynasty, Wu Dianbang went to Beijing for an examination and won a "top three Jinshi". The top three Jinshi, commonly known as "jintumu" by Chaozhou people, had no official title and only got an empty title. Wu Dianbang refused to return, so he lingered in Kyoto with his good handwriting. One day, Wu Dianbang was wandering in the street, passing in front of Wei Zhongxian's house, but he saw a collection of cars and horses outside the house, and the house was full of music. Wu Dianbang privately inquired that today was Wei Zhongxian's birthday. He was a civil and military official and came to celebrate his birthday. Wu Dianbang thought to himself that Wei Zhongxian was no more than the director of the imperial palace. He was entrusted with an important task because he flattered the emperor. He monopolized power, formed a clique for personal gain, and was tyrannical. A group of shameless people came to flatter him in order to depend on power, which made it so lively. Thinking of this, he couldn't help approaching Wei Fu to see what happened. In front of Wei Zhongxian's house, there is a big drum, but there is no drumstick. Instead, there is an iron bar. There is only a big lantern hanging on one side of the door. This is clearly a riddle. At the moment, Wu Dianbang picked up the iron bar and could not help saying that "Dong" aimed at the drum. Looking back, another blow knocked down the lantern. Wei Zhongxian heard the drum outside in the hall, so he told the warrior to bring the drummer in. Wei Zhongxian asked Wu Dianbang why he beat drums? Wu Dianbang casually replied: "hold that in the war, a drum to destroy Ming." In eight words, it is said that Wei Zhongxian is in the heart of his heart, because Wei Zhongxian has been deliberately plotting to seize the throne for a long time. No one of the civil and military officials knows what he is thinking. On the contrary, he can see through the top three when he enters the country. Wei Zhongxian thought that this talent was extraordinary and would be useful in the future. He immediately promised to take an official position and bring Wu Dianbang to his own door. Wu Dianbang knew in his heart that a rebellion against Wei Zhongxian would end up dead and infamous, but he didn't want to give up the chance to become an official. So he assumed that Wei Zhongxian should go to the local government to recruit talents for him. Wei Zhongxian believed it, so he got him a county magistrate. When Wu Dianbang took office, he thought that the telephone white was far away from the capital and would never be OK again. Unexpectedly, Wei Zhongxian did not forget him and sent people to send letters and gifts from time to time to further win him over. This made Wu Dianbang very embarrassed. Take it? He is not willing to join the eunuch party as a running dog? Wei Zhongxian lost his power for a long time and killed people without delay, which angered him and made his life difficult to protect. After much consideration, I accepted the gift and wrote a letter of thanks respectfully. later, Wei Zhongxian's conspiracy came to light, and the Wei party was pursued everywhere, and Wu Dianbang was denounced. However, when we found out the gifts Wei Zhongxian gave Wu Dianbang, we found that everything was well preserved, and the word "submit" was written on the back of every object. As for Wu Dianbang's letter to Wei Zhongxian, there was no word in Wei's house. it turns out that all the letters Wu Dianbang wrote to Wei Zhongxian were written in ink from the belly of the cuttlefish. At the beginning, the color was like ink. After a long time, it gradually disappeared without leaving any trace. In this way, he skillfully avoided the entanglement of castrating party and the disaster of castrating party. Later, he was promoted to the general counsellor and granted Shang Baoqing.
A bald ass scolds Tong'an
According to legend, one day, Wu Dianbang went to the mountain to play. When he came to a mountain temple, he went in to have a rest. The monks in the temple didn't know him. Seeing that he only stopped to pay for the lamp oil, they ignored him and made some sarcastic remarks, which hurt Wu Dianbang's self-esteem. Wu Dianbang left angrily. After a few days, Wu Dianbang and some scholars came to the temple again. When the monks in the temple heard that Wu Dianbang, the great calligrapher, was visiting the mountain, they all respected him very much. They took out a pen and paper and asked them to give them ink. Wu Dianbang was very angry with the snobbishness of these monks, so he wrote "birds fly under the grass, but the grass doesn't grow on the grass." he embedded the word "bald donkey" in the riddle. Monks do not know the details, Xi Dian Dian Dian to mount and hang up. Seeing this, all of them burst into laughter and said, "a bald ass scolds Tong'an."
