Personal profile
Career and character
Ye Yingliu was a Jinshi in 1661 (the 18th year of Shunzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty). He was also a gifted scholar. He served as a doctor in the Ministry of rites, a tixue in Shaanxi Province, and a Liangdao in Hubei Province. During this period, he recalled the people who fled during the war and reduced their taxes. He had to argue with the superior officials for anything unfavorable to the army and the people until his face turned red. In 1688 (the 27th year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty), the chief secretary was appointed. In May, the imperial court decided to dismiss the governor of Huguang, and to reduce the governor and model soldiers, which aroused the dissatisfaction of Chu soldiers. One of them, Xia Fenglong, took the opportunity to coerce the governor into paying his wages. Wuchang Tongzhi suggested sending troops to suppress it. Chu soldiers were even more angry when they learned about it. Armed with weapons, they gathered at Yuanmen and Yingliu rushed in. They asked the governor to appease them. When the governor came out to speak to the soldiers, they didn't listen. The governor sternly scolded them: "do you want to rebel?" They waved their swords and said, "it's just to rebel. How about it?" When the governor saw that something was wrong, he slipped away, and other bureaucrats also fled. The soldiers killed the governor's servants and took away the governor's seal. Seeing this, Yingliu comes forward, braves the sword and gun, persuades the Chu soldiers, and tells them that they have a stake. Chu soldiers are willing to listen, but they rush ye Yingliu to Yuemachang and force him to rebel together.
Die for the country
Ye Yingliu angrily opened his eyes and wanted to commit suicide by seizing the sword. Seeing this, the Chu soldiers cried out: "it's not good to kill a good official!" Taking Yingliu to the yamen, ye Yingliu was trapped in the lonely city and determined to die. In order to take care of the future, he said to Xia Fenglong, "as long as you don't kill the people, I can consider your requirements." She entrusted her wife and 76 year old mother to her family to escape from the ditch and wrote a few notes to the imperial court. The book describes his experience as an official and the situation of this incident, and also expresses his determination to die for his country. After he had arranged everything, he was promoted to the throne, scolded the anti thief and killed himself. When Emperor Kangxi heard the news of Ye Yingliu's death, he was awarded the title of the right servant of the Ministry of work. The next year, when he visited the south, he personally wrote the plaque of "loyalty day" and gave it to his family. Ye yinglu and Li Jihe once carved a collection of poems, and Zhu YIZUN wrote the preface. After his death, his son sorted out his posthumous works, and got 8 volumes of articles, 4 volumes of poems and 1 volume of poems, which were merged into "Zhongjie posthumous manuscript", a total of 13 volumes (see "general catalogue of Siku").
