He once toured Huashan in the northeast of Jinan City and left his poem Deng Hua Bu Zhu. In 1640, on the basis of Li Cheng compiled by Liu Chi, 16 volumes of Licheng county annals were compiled. At that time, it was regarded as a superior county annals of Shandong. In the second year of Shunzhi (1645), ye Chengzong was awarded the title of county magistrate of Linchuan, Jiangxi Province. In the year of famine, the people were short of food and had difficulty in making a living. Ye Chengzong ordered to open warehouses for relief and saved many people. The magistrate urged the tax to be paid, and ye Chengzong tried his best to state the people's feelings, so that the tax could be postponed. In order to cultivate talents, Xiangnan society was set up to teach students in the county. Hundreds of excellent articles were selected and printed. Many of them became famous after joining the society. In October of the fifth year of Shunzhi (1648), Jin Shenghuan of ganzhen, Jiangxi Province, fought against the Qing Dynasty and attacked Fuzhou (governing Linchuan). The city was broken and ye Chengzong was captured. Jin Shenghuan forced him to surrender, but ye Chengzong refused and committed suicide. He also compiled 2 volumes of Ertan, 10 volumes of Luohan and 6 volumes of selected poems of Shaoling.
