Creative features
From the first work "broken void", which discusses martial arts and the way of heaven, Huang Yi is intoxicated in the world of martial arts creation. After that, taking the chaotic rivers and lakes in the early Ming Dynasty as the background, "overturning the rain and overturning the clouds" skillfully integrated the politics of the times, the theory of yin and Yang and philosophy together. It not only laid an important position in the long masterpiece, but also constructed a moving and unique world of martial arts, which swept countless martial arts readers. Then, with constant innovation, he was eager to inject new elements into the traditional martial arts. He created a novel named Qin Xun Ji, which combines history, science fiction, war and strategy, and once again became a masterpiece for martial arts fans. Through the turbulent times of the late Sui Dynasty, the biography of Tang Shuanglong explores the impermanence of heaven, the perfection of martial arts and the true appearance of life, constantly opening up territory for martial arts and his own creation, and becoming the standard bearer of martial arts novels in Hong Kong and Taiwan in the 1990s.
Under the trend that martial arts novels have been in the doldrums for a long time and most of the martial arts market has been divided up by sound, light and image media such as movies, TV, comics, etc., why can Huang Yi's martial arts novels win the favor of readers and create millions of copies of sales in Taiwan and Hong Kong Finally have a large readership?
As Huang Yi described his two favorite martial arts masters -
Jin Yong
and
Sima Ling
"Both of them have reached a perfect state of writing, full of charm. Jin Yong's depiction of the characters is vivid and vivid, while Sima Ling's depiction of human nature is thorough, bold and direct, insightful and philosophical Each of them has created a world of martial arts that can justify itself and have flesh and blood! " Huang Yi's requirements and presentation of his works conform to and prove this.
Since the decline of the "new school" martial arts, many writers are still trying hard to absorb foreign skills, innovate the pattern, or have a more modern sense and become more accepted by the secular world, trying to open up new avenues for martial arts and inject new blood. However, on the one hand, the trend of the times is that the more exciting and dazzling popular products are gaining the upper hand; on the other hand, the achievements of our efforts are not obvious, and there are few successful ones. Some people put too much emphasis on the innovation of writing skills, which is out of line with the public reading habits; some people are too secular, or a large number of modern language is mixed, the flavor is lost, or too vulgar, become a gag, inferior. How to strike a balance between innovation, popularity, original flavor and unique style of Chinese chivalry has always been a problem for today's chivalry creators.
Huang Yi's works give readers a sense of modernity. The vivid words and lively rhythm set off the plot as if it were a dynamic picture, which emerged in the reader's mind and made people experience it. As a master, he raised life and death to the height of "Tao", perfectly integrated justice and evil into his philosophical theory, and expounded his views on all things in the world with the language of great philosophical charm and the idea of all things being one. What really endows these novels with the soul is the most Chinese philosophy and traditional culture. He has a wide range of knowledge. He has a deep research on art, astronomy, history, metaphysics, astrology, and the five elements. He has also studied Zhouyi, Buddhism, and other schools of thought, which enables him to manage innovative themes and characters without violating the traditional spirit of Chinese martial arts.
As for the all inclusive content in the book, I humbly claim that I am just Huang Yi who is diligent in turning over the book. Through the interview, we can understand his innovative idea of martial arts and the irreplaceable position of martial arts novels in his heart: "or, martial arts is Chinese science fiction. Like the western science fiction, she is unrestrained and far-reaching. She thinks about the mysteries of life. After combining with all kinds of ancient science in China, she creates a moving world that can justify herself. In that place, we can gallop in the beautiful and profound culture of China, crisscross the theory of magic, the theory of immortals, the theory of meridians, poetry, song and Fu, Qin, Qi, calligraphy and painting, religious philosophy, and allow imagination to create the imagination and reflection. After combining with history and human feelings, we can create the unique fantasy like reality of martial arts novels, which is difficult to pursue by any other literary style It's the realm you get. " This shows his attitude towards martial arts creation.
Looking at Huang Yi's works, we can find that he is constantly exploring the possibility of martial arts literature. As for the pursuit of martial arts, the basic element of martial arts, he promoted it to the position of "Tao", which greatly expanded the possibility of martial arts. And this kind of power must be obtained through the process of pursuing martial arts, not only to fight against the enemy, but also to defeat themselves, constantly test their maximum limit, and then to explore the Tao with martial arts! Huang Yi believes that "any skill can be sublimated to the realm of Tao. It's the skill that comes into Tao, including the cook of" jieniu ". The so-called "Wu Wu Yi Tai Chi", everything has a deeper meaning waiting to be explored For him, martial arts is "a possibility for human beings to surpass their own fantasies, with eternal and moving beauty. If they stop at art, they only belong to the lower class.".
In the novel, the exploration and breakthrough of the principle of martial arts is better than the gorgeous and mysterious moves and skills. He also presents the concept of "no move wins with move" in another form; the momentum and spiritual power beyond sharp weapons and skills can penetrate the space to directly explore the enemy's mind, disturb his mind, destroy his will, and surpass all flesh and blood battles. Compared with the present world of valuing material and belittling spirit, it is undoubtedly a profound criticism and irony.
The brilliance and true appearance of life are also the most frequently explored and deeply focused themes in his novels. Huang Yi is very popular in character depiction. No matter he is a great Xia, or a little loser, he tries to climb up. No matter he is a leading role, a supporting role, a decent person or a villain, he has his own value and beauty. He is also faced with the same huge net woven by fate. Everyone is eager to break through the shackles and live his own life.
What is the greatest possibility of life under the wave of human life and the manipulation of fate? This must be a problem that no one can have a clear answer to. However, Huang Yi believes that through martial arts novels, life can be bright, and the face of life can be purified from the known troubles and unknown fates. "In the competition between masters, life and death are just a line of difference, the spirit and potential are promoted to the limit, and life reaches the strongest level. That is a unique artistic conception that can only be expressed through Chinese martial arts novels. " "Only when the edge of the sword is opposite can life reveal her true face." And through Huang Yi's words, you may find that life also has this possibility!
"History" is often the background element that makes many martial arts novels more vivid and wonderful. In Huang Yi's works, readers often marvel at his profound understanding and skillful application of historical culture and social background. With him, he can reproduce historical scenes in detail and vividly, and at the same time, make the characters flexibly shuttle between fantasy and reality, past and future!
Maybe some people think that the golden age of martial arts is over, and it's hard to see the scenery again! But there are also people who are constantly working hard for the martial arts and opening up new territories! In any case, to create another peak of martial arts novels can not be achieved overnight or with the efforts of a few people. In addition to the creator's faster imagination, broader views and more breakthrough artistic expression, it also needs the support of readers, so that martial arts can survive in the market and continue.
What are your views on the conditions and future prospects of good martial arts novels? Huang Yi replied: "I don't think I'm qualified to decide what a good martial arts novel should have. All the martial arts novels that can make me forget to read are the ones I think are good. And the fascinating method, is more difficult to do, just waiting for people to dig. From this point of view, martial arts novels should have unlimited prospects. "
Huang Yi is the author who tries to provide infinite possibilities and vitality for martial arts novels, and his readers also take half of the credit. Just as Huang Yi's great swordsman "can only be extreme in love, so it can be extreme in sword", only those who have deep love for swordsmen can write good works and have swordsmen who will never be absent. I would like to use this famous saying as a footnote for Huang Yi and his readers.
