Li Tingyi was a Jinshi in the 39th year of Kangxi (1700 A.D.), and served as the Minister of the Ministry of punishment and the Minister of the Ministry of officials in the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty (1723-1735 A.D.), posthumously named Wengong. He served as Minister of the Ministry of punishment for many years. Later, his Manchu official, haishou, was promoted to minister. According to the regulations, he should be above him. However, Emperor Yongzheng ordered him to walk in front of Li Tingyi, a Han official, in order to show his importance to him.

Main works
Li Tingyi has eight volumes of shuangqingge poetry manuscript. His calligraphy is based on Wang Xizhi's running script, which is closely related to Yu Shinan and Chu suiliang. His strokes are vigorous and varied.
