Gao Xu? Born in Pingyuan County, he was a Confucian scholar of the Eastern Han Dynasty.
Personal story
Gao Xu's grandfather, Gao Jia, was a teacher of emperor yuan of Han Dynasty. He taught the book of songs to emperor yuan, and Gao Jia's official position lasted to Shanggu. Gao Xu's father Gao Rong served as a doctor of Guanglu during the reign of emperor AI and Emperor Ping of the Han Dynasty. Because of his father's relationship, Gao Xu was also recruited into the court to worship as a doctor. After Wang Mang usurped the throne, Gao Xu and his son did not want to work for him, so they escaped from Chang'an and refused to be an official. After Emperor Guangwu Liu Xiu ascended the throne, song Hong, the chief minister of agriculture, recommended Gao Xu as an official. He successively served as a Langguan and county magistrate, and later served as a doctor in the imperial court, specializing in the study of Lu Shi. He was honest and learned, and became a great agricultural official. In the 13th year of the reign of Emperor Guangwu of the Han Dynasty (AD 37), Gao Xu died as an official.
As a doctor, Gao Xu made a certain contribution to the inheritance of the book of songs at the turn of Han Dynasty.
