Liu Xiwu
Liu Xiwu was formerly known as Liu Rongfu and Liu Xinping. He was born in Mengxian County, Henan Province. In 1921, he entered Kaifeng St. Andrea middle school and was expelled for participating in the student patriotic movement.
In August 1924, he joined the Communist Youth League of China through Wu Hujing's introduction during his study in the cram school of Beijing Xinjing University. In the spring of 1925, he Mengxiong introduced him to the Department of Social Sciences of Shanghai University and took part in the May 30th Movement. He was held in a patrol room. In October of the same year, he became a member of the Communist Party of China in Shanghai.
Life
He took part in the first armed uprising in Shanghai in 1926. In August 1926, he was appointed director of the Propaganda Department of the Pudong District Committee of the CPC. In November of the same year, he was sent back to Mengxian county to take charge of the work of the Kuomintang county Party headquarters. In February 1927, he returned to Shanghai University and took part in Jiangwan work under the leadership of Wusong District Committee of the Communist Party of China. After May, he was assigned to work in the Military Commission of Henan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and worked in the Military Transportation Department of Gao Guizi. After the failure of the great revolution, he worked underground in Jiangsu and Shanghai. In the winter of the same year, he went to Shanghai to report to the Party Central Committee. After 1928, he successively held the posts of director of Propaganda Department of Shanghai fanan District Committee, director of Organization Department of Huxi District Committee, Secretary of Organization Department of Jiangsu Provincial Committee of CPC, Acting Secretary of Huxi District Committee, member and Secretary General of Central Cultural Work Committee. In the autumn of 1929, he participated in and presided over the conference of representatives of Shanghai Anti Japanese Alliance. In the summer of 1930, he was sent to the northeast as secretary of the CPC Shenyang Municipal Committee. In July, he was re appointed acting director of the Provincial Committee of the Manchuria Bureau of the Communist Party of China. In December of the same year, he was transferred to the all China Federation of railway trade unions as Secretary General of the Communist Party of China and Secretary General of the all China Federation of railway trade unions. He was soon elected secretary of the CPC Beiping Municipal Committee. In the summer of 1931, he also served as the North China Special Commissioner of the all China Federation of trade unions, and was elected as the standing member of the CPC Shunzhi Provincial Committee and the Secretary of the staff Movement Committee of the Provincial Committee. In July of the same year, he was arrested and jailed in Beiping for betraying the traitor. He remained unyielding in prison and insisted on fighting against the enemy under the leadership of the secret party branch. He was released from prison in November 1936. In February 1937, he came to Yan'an, where he successively served as the director of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, the head of local section, and the head teacher of cadre training. In September 1939, he was transferred to the head of the Organization Department of the northern Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. He was appointed member of the North Bureau of the Central Committee in March 1941. Participate in and lead the party building in North China, develop and consolidate the Anti Japanese base areas, and persist in the Anti Japanese guerrilla war behind the enemy lines. During the war of liberation, he was transferred to Northeast China and successively served as the Secretary of the second West Manchurian prefectural committee, the Secretary of the CPC Nenjiang prefectural committee, the political commissar of the military division, the Secretary of the CPC Nenjiang Provincial Committee and the political commissar of the Nenjiang military region, the deputy director and Minister of the Organization Department of the Northeast Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, and the Secretary of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, from 1949 to 1952, he served as secretary of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee and political member of the Jilin Military Region, member of the Northeast Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, and director of the Northeast People's Government Supervisory Committee. From 1955 to 1966, he served as the standing member, deputy secretary and Secretary of the CPC Central Committee. He was elected to the Standing Committee of the third CPPCC National Committee. He was framed and severely persecuted by Lin Biao and Jiang Qing during the "Cultural Revolution". He died in Zhengzhou on February 28, 1970.
