Join Google
Google, the world's largest search engine, announced on January 7, 2008 that it had appointed Dr. Liu Yun as its global vice president in charge of sales in Greater China. Liu Yun will be stationed in Beijing and responsible for Google's sales and channel business in Chinese mainland, Hongkong and Taiwan.
Liu Yun confirmed to the media that he was responsible for Zhou Shaoning's previous work. In the future, Google will continue to rely on the agency system to promote its advertising sales in China.
"Dr. Liu Yun will become an important member of Google's Greater China management team," said Lee Kai Fu, Google's global vice president and greater China president. I'm very happy to have a talent like Dr. Liu Yun join our China team. His joining will accelerate the development of Google's sales and channel business in Greater China, and promote Google to bring the best products and services to Chinese users, advertisers and advertising publishers. "
Liu Yun believes: "the rise of diversified digital new media has changed people's way of communication, which has brought new opportunities and challenges for enterprise brand marketing. Google will use its own products to integrate online and offline resources to help enterprises create new marketing programs. " Google China held the SME marketing forum and put forward the "SME network marketing solutions" for SMEs; Google held the brand marketing forum again and put forward the "online and offline integrated brand marketing solutions" for relatively high-end enterprises.
Liu Yun, who is in charge of Google's product marketing in Greater China, was the CEO and President of SK Telecom in China. His familiarity with China's telecom industry is what Google sees It's in the middle.
Liu Yun believes that the biggest challenge he faces is to face a new Internet industry. In recent months, the biggest difference he has brought to Google is to promote the smooth sales channels of Google and enhance the role of Google's marketing team in the company. "In the past, Google global told Google how to market in China. Now, the marketing team of Google China tells Google what China should do to win the support of Google global." Support needs the support of performance. Liu Yun's business card says "Dr. Liu Yun's sales in Greater China", which means challenge and pressure.
The weight and strategic position of Google Advertising Marketing in Google are improving.
Zhou Wenbiao, online sales and operation manager of Google North Asia, said: "in the past, the sales team was leaderless, the sales strategy was clear, the sales channels and sales team were set up on a large scale. Google has a sales team of hundreds of people and is still expanding its enrollment." Wang Xinyu, head of Google's agent channel and general manager of China's north channel department, said, "before Liu Yunlai, we were doing sales, but we didn't get so much support as we do now. The biggest difference is that Google pays more attention to product marketing.
Meet Li Kaifu
On September 4, 2009, Google China announced that Dr. Lee Kai Fu, Google's global vice president and President of Greater China, will leave Google in mid September. Dr. Yang Wenluo will take over the responsibilities of Google in China's engineering and R & D. Dr. Liu Yun, who is now the global vice president of Google's Greater China sales business, will take over the responsibilities of Google's Greater China business and operation. This is not consistent with the previous rumors that Liu Yun will be the president.
Yang Wenluo previously served as general manager of Intel Asia Pacific R & D Co., Ltd. and general manager of China Software Center. After joining Google in March 2007, he and Wang Jin jointly led the work of Google China Engineering Research Institute (Shanghai).
Before joining Google, Liu Yun has been the CEO and President of SK Telecom in China. After joining Google, Liu Yun has been in charge of Google's sales and channel business in Chinese mainland, Hongkong and Taiwan, and has made a great contribution in marketing.
And this time, they jointly led Google China, continuing Google's common management system. Google global is the implementation of the "troika" leadership system: CO led by Google founder Sergey Brin, Larry Page and current CEO Eric Schmidt. Previously, Google China had also implemented the "troika" system. However, after Zhou Shaoning resigned as co president of Google Greater China, Google announced that there would no longer be a co president structure in Greater China.
In September 2009, Liu Yun replaced Li Kaifu as the head of Google Greater China. Since then, Google began to adjust its strategy in the Chinese market. Google Greater China, led by Liu Yun, has been mainly promoting the marketing of export enterprises, display advertising and mobile business development, but it has been relatively low-key in terms of public opinion. During this period, Google China's music and other businesses have also been shut down.
Statistics from a third party show that Google's share in China's search market has been declining. Baidu, Sogou and 360 have eaten part of Google's China market. However, Liu Yun has always stressed that Google's performance in China continues to grow.
After Liu Yun leaves, Scott Beaumont will take over in mid August and continue to help Chinese partners achieve better development in local and global markets. Previously, Scott Beaumont was responsible for Google's strategic partnership in Europe to expand its business.
