Shi Geng was a Jinshi in the first year of Huangyou (1049). After several years as a junior official, he was promoted to Dali temple and then transferred to the court of examiners.

Later, he disagreed with the Prime Minister Wang Anshi, and was sent to prison on jinghun Road (yizuo Jingdong Road) and transferred to Taizhou on Guangnan West Road. In the fifth year of Yuanyou (1090), he knew Taizhou as a court fenglang.
