Character story
Shi Wende had no chance to enter the academy because of his poor family. However, with his extraordinary desire for knowledge, he refined his extraordinary insight and achieved his thinking personality. Shi Wende was born in 904 A.D., the first year of emperor Zhaozong's Tianyou reign in the late Tang Dynasty. However, the poor family did not have the opportunity to accept the teaching of famous teachers, and the dream of reading began to sprout in the sound of following the private school students in their youth. Shi Wende loves reading and is thirsty. Every book that can be borrowed or found, even if there are only a few words, he recites them carefully and keeps them in mind. With his intelligent nature and extraordinary comprehension, he has his own independent opinions on the main points of each book. When he was 20 years old, he read Fan Ye's "book of the later Han Dynasty" and extracted hundreds of language mistakes, which were dialectically analyzed one by one. In this regard, the book of poetry of the Five Dynasties records in detail: Shi Wende After reading Fan Ye's book of the later Han Dynasty, there are hundreds of refutations to pick up its flaws. Those who know it say that Shi Tong can't pass it. The book of the later Han Dynasty is a classic recognized by the scholars at that time. Shi Wende dared to objectively study and judge the shortcomings of his predecessors when he was young. No wonder the scholars at that time called him a genius. Shi Wende had no chance to enter the academy and was not familiar with the composition of calligraphy and poetry. By chance, from a broken box abandoned by a scholar, I got a calligraphy paste of Jin Dynasty and selected poems of Yin Yu. I copied calligraphy skills carefully, understood the rhyme of poetry and made great progress. The creation of poetry, whether conception or layout, surpasses the contemporary scholars. Although he had the ambition to study and change his fate, he was poor and had no enough economic strength to support him to take the imperial examination, and he could not find a sage who could recommend him to take the imperial examination. He had to work and study while looking for opportunities to change his own destiny. there were frequent wars in the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms. Shi Wende wanted to escape from the wars and seek a home. From Wuwei, Gansu Province, all the way south, along the Jingchu ancient road to Lianzhou, take a boat to reach Xixi, a tributary of Huangchuan, to shijiaodong. The beautiful countryside of shijiaodong finally stopped him, settled in Pinghe township (now rongshuping village, kuichi village committee of Xixi town), and then moved to shafang. (13) according to the records of the Shih clan genealogy, which was rebuilt in Xianfeng 11 years, preserved by Lianzhou Municipal Archives Bureau, shiwende, Taizu, came from Pinghe township (now rongshuping village, kuichi village committee of Xixi town) of bujizisha square in Wuwei County during the reign of emperor Changxing (930-934). On the Dragon Boat Festival, Shi Wende wrote a long poem "Ai Hu", which was praised by Liu Shaoyu, a scholar of Tiance government, after reading: "Wen de should be the hero of Wen Yuan!" Shi Wende is not willing to empty his talent of managing the world. In order to show his lifelong ambition, he went north to Changsha again, feeling the strong atmosphere of "valuing scholars" and "advocating culture" in Changsha, and staying to strive for the opportunity to realize his ambition. At that time, Changsha was in power for Ma Xifan, the son of Ma Yin. Ma Xifan was different from his father, who was born as a carpenter. He liked to be mediocre and elegant. He set up a literature museum of Tiance mansion in imitation of Li Shimin, Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty. He recruited a large number of talents to help him revitalize the great cause of "Ma Chu". As a result, Shi Wende wrote many times and offered his poems and essays to meet him. Ma Xifan thought that Shi Wende's status was humble, and he was "poor in shape and quality, short in bed" (poetry of the Five Dynasties), so he impatiently turned him away. the down and out Shi Wende lives on the streets of Changsha, hungry and cold. Ma Xiguang, the younger brother of Ma Xifan, the king of Chu, paid more attention to the learned and talented scholars, understood Shi Wende's experience and took him in at home. After knowing this, Ma Xifan chased his younger brother and scolded him: "don't I know better than you?" But also in front of the public face, humiliate Shi Wende, and then drive him away. With a solid foundation of knowledge and good psychological quality, Shi Wende did not lose his ambition because of Ma Xifan's repeated neglect. He still maintained his enthusiasm for pursuing ideals and actively participated in various activities of Changsha literati. One year on the Dragon Boat Festival, Shi Wende wrote a long poem "Ai Hu" at a gathering of scholars. Liu Shaoyu, one of the "18 scholars of Tiance mansion", read it carefully and praised it: "Wen de should be the hero of the literary garden!" He tried his best to recommend Shi Wende to the king of Chu. The king of Chu was preconceived and unwilling to accept Shi Wende. "The king of Chu exclaimed:" Wen De is responsible for this talent, but you can rest on your appearance. It's not as good as Nangong children who can know people! " The state of Chu in the period of Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms was the only Dynasty in Hunan history centered on Hunan, known as "Machu" (Southern Chu, Machu, Machu regime) in history, and Changsha was the king's capital. In its heyday, Machu had a vast territory, with 22 prefectures, including Wuan, Wuping and Jingjiang, including the whole territory of Hunan, most of Guangxi, eastern Guizhou and northern Guangdong. In politics, the Machu regime adopted the policies of "worshiping the emperor and pacifying the people", internal pacifying the rebellion army and external defending the powerful vassals, which made the people obtain a relatively stable environment; in economy, it adopted the measures of building water conservancy, rewarding agriculture and mulberry, developing tea industry, advocating textile and trading with the Central Plains, which accumulated wealth and made the social economy develop rapidly. when Ma Xifan was in power, he indulged in his voice and extravagance. Tiance house is also the place where he sang and danced with his concubine. Ma Xifan's favorite wife of the state of Qin is the daughter of Peng Gan, the governor of Chenzhou. After Ma Xifan succeeded to the throne, Peng was granted the title of Shunxian wife of the state of Qin. Unfortunately, the lady of the state of Qin lost her life when she was in the mood for love. This Ma Xifan is also a kind of love. When he was sad, he collected elegiac couplets among scholars to show his mourning, and expressed his appreciation to those who wrote elegiac couplets well. Shi Wende also presented more than ten chapters of elegiac couplets. During the contest, a pair of elegiac couplets evokes Ma Xifan's melancholy about the loss of his beloved concubine: "the moon sinks in the cold of Xiangpu, and the flowers thank the autumn of Han Palace.". After careful inquiry, the author of the elegiac couplet that shook his heart was Shi Wende, who was humiliated many times by himself. He finally thought to himself, "Wende is responsible for this talent, but I rest on my appearance. I'm not as good as Nangong Xiaoer, but I know people!" Put this couplet first. Ma Xifan, the king of Chu, confessed his fault of judging people by their appearance, and granted Shi Wende the title of wailang, a member of the water department of Chu in the Five Dynasties. He trusted Shi Wende very much, and granted Shi Wende's hometown as the "scholars' Square". The king of Chu built a luxury palace. Shi Wende resolutely wrote six admonitions, lamenting that large-scale construction and looting of civilian fat would impoverish the peasants and lead them into banditry and harm the foundation of Chu. Shi Wende was upright in nature. Before, he didn't kowtow because of his ugly appearance. After he became an official, he didn't follow the example of others. He had repeatedly admonished the king of Chu. His colleagues thought that he didn't know how to be an official, and his character was as hard as his surname. So Shi Wende said: "Ning Fang is for me, not round for Qing, son does not see the stone can fill the sky, under foot attack jade ye?" Interestingly, Ma Xifan and Ma Xi sing the twin brothers in the age of "Ma Chu" as famous as "luxury": Ma heard that Liang Tai Zhu liked to eat chicken. He thought that a person with status and wealth should eat chicken. Every day he would kill a large number of chickens in the dining room and make delicate meals with the essence of chicken for him to enjoy. This stupid man, who is full of "chicken" nobility, won Gao Jichang's estrangement plan in Jingnan, and got rid of Gao Yu, which made Ma Chu lose a strong general and damaged the foundation of Ma Chu. "New Five Dynasties History" evaluates "Xi Sheng Su Yu". Ma Xisheng's luxury lies in his willingness to eat chicken, while Ma Xifan's luxury lies in building high-rise buildings. The first grand project he ordered was Tiance mansion. Tiance mansion is an overall building. There are 16 buildings including Tiance and Guangzheng, and 5 halls including Tiance and qinzheng. It is incomparably magnificent. Its gate and railings are decorated with gold and jade, and the walls are painted with precious cinnabar at that time. There is also a Jiulong hall in Tiance mansion, with eight huge dragon columns. Ma Xifan's seat is right in the middle of the eight dragons. He thinks he is also a dragon, so he named the hall "Jiulong hall". Another summer palace built by Ma Xifan, Huichun garden, covers an area of hundreds of hectares, with brick and tile carvings in the shape of a Phoenix. They built super luxury palaces, plundered the common people directly, and imposed a large amount of extra taxes, resulting in a great deal of public resentment. Most of the scholars of Tiance mansion wrote poems to praise the king of Chu. Only Shi Wende saw the king of Chu
